Road closed until 3:30 ish

The South Grade might be closed until 3:30 or so.  There was a motorcycle fatality about half way on the grade.  So sorry. As it stands now, you would be driving to that half way point to learn that you need to turn around and take another route.

Realtor’s Cabin Back on the Market

cards

What a fun find tucked away down Bailey Road, in the Woodlynn cabin. A former owner was a realtor and left behind his card.  He was licensed in 1921 and you only had to dial 3 numbers to call him!

Lots of things have changed in Real Estate over the past 95 years, but the cabin has remained very much the same.  The big stone fireplace has a wood stove that was just cleaned for a new buyer that had a change of plans, so it’s your turn!   Come on up and fall in love with your own little cabin in the woods: http://www.palomarproperties.com

Lots more numbers to dial  1-760-533-1742 and glad to open the doors!

Log Cabin Living

022

Well, that was a fun call!  One of my log cabin listings caught the eye of a scout for HGTV’s Log Cabin Living.  They need a total of three log homes for the show. I do have two now that could work.  I could use a log home listing from out of the area but thought it would be nice if all three were benefitting my clients.

Do you have a log cabin or home you are considering selling?  This could be a great way to get the word out – “As seen on HGTV Log Cabin Living!”

Let’s connect and get your questions answered.

Thank you!

Fall arrived on Palomar

marcias-sunset

Added another blanket on the bed last night. Woke up in a cloud.  Misty, chilly, welcome to Fall. Built our first fire in the wood stove.  Just had to share Marcia Stults’ sunset she captured on the way down tonight. Such a beautiful day on Palomar.

Yes, I know this is a little early, but Happy Fall to all!

Joel Mendenhall Memorial Highway

joel

Many of you know the Mendenhall family.  We were privileged to attend the dedication ceremony naming a part of Highway 76, honoring of Joel Menhenhall.

Here is a story from the Union Tribune and a nice photo of Joel: http://enewspaper.sandiegouniontribune.com/infinity/article_popover_share.aspx?guid=f3fcd4b9-12d0-411a-8906-d1f555a460cb

Assemblywoman Marie Waldron Dedicates Joel Mendenhall Memorial Highway

SACRAMENTO – Assemblywoman Marie Waldron, R-Escondido, dedicated the East Grade segment of state Route 76 in North San Diego County today at a roadside ceremony to honor the late local Palomar Mountain rancher Joel Mendenhall.

“It is an honor to pay tribute to an extraordinary young man who represented the true spirit of a California rancher who raised wholesome and safe food for his local community, said Assemblywoman Waldron. “Joel worked hard, always did what is right and provided the highest level of care to his animals and the land. He was friendly, dependable, and most importantly, a devoted family man, who is greatly missed.”

Last year, Waldron’s Assembly resolution named part of State Highway Route 76 in San Diego after Mendenhall. Recently, Caltrans installed signs memorializing the stretch of highway. No state money was used for the signs.

Mr. Mendenhall was just 30-years-old in 2013 when he tragically passed away in an equipment accident. He was a successful California rancher and owner of Homegrown Cattle Company in Palomar, where he raised natural beef for cattle marketed to supermarkets, like Whole Foods Markets, throughout San Diego County and Southern California.

“This memorial highway will forever honor the life of Joel Mendenhall, who was a hard-working rancher and a treasured part of this community,” said Assemblywoman Waldron.

Joining Waldron for the sign dedication were numerous family and friends including Joel’s wife Jenna and children along with his parents Frank and Janice Mendenhall.

Assemblywoman Marie Waldron, R-Escondido, represents the 75th Assembly District in the California Legislature, which includes the communities of Bonsall, Escondido, Fallbrook, Hidden Meadows, Palomar Mountain, Pauma Valley, Rainbow, San Marcos, Santa Ysabel, Temecula, Valley Center, and Vista.

All our Cabins are modern!

We do have some “wee houses” waiting for you on Palomar these days.  And, drum roll, all of our properties, available at this very moment have indoor plumbing!

Thanks to cabin owner, Mike Appelman for turning around this link: http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/2016/aug/26/guatay-cheapest-home-tiny/

It was great meeting  the Union Tribune reporter, Phillip Molnar who was up last winter to do a fun story about Real Estate on Palomar.  I really appreciate him including the Palomar link in the above article!

Yes, we have bedrooms in most, or at least sleeping cubbies, and all have real bathrooms.  All the photos are up for you now so we are rolling!  Check out the Cabins page:  http://www.palomarproperties.com/cabins/index.html

Glad to open those door of the wee little cabins or some big fancy properties.  Big or small, we love them all!

Who will be the next New Neighbor on Palomar???

Let’s make it happen,

Bonnie Phelps, Realtor
