Bringing in the Big Guns!

pushing tree   nick

Look what was blocking the road!  Driving through the 68 acres for sale on Canfield, we came to a bit of a road block.

Mom wrote in my baby book the first sentence I ever said: “Bonnie do it”.   (Yes, I realize that does not come as a surprise to some of you).  Well, this time, I found out pretty quick that I needed to call in reinforcements.

Time for the big guns!  Nick-the-Logger is back with saws, an excavator,  masticator and all sorts of great equipment to get the job done.  He offers complimentary ‘Forestry Health and Fire-Safe evaluations’ to see if his services can benefit your property.

Nick invites you to stop by the job site this week to see the property grooming in action.  Or, call for more info:  Carmel Valley Contractors, Forestry Division 760 742-8745.  Licensed and insured.

Tuesday and Wednesday, Nick and crew, will be on Canfield Road.  Go past the Post Office. The first driveway on the left takes you up to the land. There is quite a bit of frontage to that property, between the two sets of yellow flags, tied on tree branches on the left. They might also be a ways down the road on Canfield.  Look for the dust!

Meanwhile, we are looking for new owners for this land!  The next owner will get a very nicely groomed property, ready to build out your dream.  Will that be YOU?  Before and After pix real soon!

Another fun week ahead on the Mountain!

Fire Department history buff?

fd druliner

One of our first volunteer fire captains, Bruce Druliner, dropped off a box that might have an interest to some history buffs out there.  The records go back to 1975.  It was fun to browse through and run across First Aid and CPR classes that I attended back in those early days (yes, I was old enough to take a CPR class, but thank you!).

I especially enjoyed a handwritten flyer by Bruce:

Howdy!

So you wanna be a volunteer?  If you are interested in joining the PMVFD, there are two capacities in which you may serve.  As an Auxiliary Member  … or want more action? Then you may wanna be Firefighter! …

Wonder how many volunteers we had over the years… and how many pies were baked?!???

Ok, who would like these records?   Just let me know.

Bonnie

Tree House Views Reduced

IMG_1637   IMG_1641

Seller said, “Bring us an offer!”  It was so beautiful during a recent snow!  Wouldn’t you love this view?

When the Union Tribune reporter got here last week, he said he needed to have the story include all real estate on Palomar.  That worked for me.  I took him by my listings and this one was mentioned.  When I asked the sellers if they had a name for their cabin, they said it was ‘like living in a tree house with views from every window’.

Poison Oak, Cats, Trees?

allergies

What are you allergic to?  As most of you know, I lost my voice.  The very few of you that I did talk to, over about 4 months, heard me sounding like a big old toad or a quiet little frog. But, now my voice is back better than ever!

After seeing several specialists, taking prescriptions with miserable side effects, and no answers, I finally went to an allergist.  I never thought of myself having allergies but with age (oh, please!) stuff like this apparently happens.

I was sleeping about an hour and a half at a time, so hard to breathe, couldn’t answer the phone and my symptoms seemed to be worse on the mountain (wait a minute!  That’s where we live!).  I finally googled ‘allergist’.

A hour and a half later I was at her office.  The allergy testing was very simple.  She has an amazing collection of little glass viles like perfume samples come in.  These viles represent all the foods and environmental ‘stuff’ that people are allergic to.  All you do is hold one in your hand while she tests your body strength.

Found out I was very allergic to horses (Buddy and Dollar!), cats (Mousetrap!), cedar and oak trees (that would be the Mountain!, oranges (organic, fresh squeezed!)  and a few other things.  After her wonderful, pain free, totally non invasive treatments, she CLEARED me of all my allergies.  The very first treatment, I slept through the night for the first time in months.  It took about 8 weeks to complete all the ‘clearings’ but by the end, my voice was back (much to Don’s dismay!).

I do feel like shouting from the mountain top: “Go see Dr. Gaila!”  I encourage you to share this with your family and friends.  No one needs to suffer with any allergies – find out what’s bugging you, get cleared, and enjoy life to it’s fullest!

Nathan was helping move a trailer in the forest and it didn’t take long to realize he’d brushed up against some poison oak.  He had horrible allergies to poison oak and an early flight the next morning to Europe. Called Dr. Gaila, she was able to meet him on his way to the airport for a quick treatment.  By the time he landed, the poison oak was gone.  Her treatments are amazing.

The next time you’re up, come on over and let’s go love on the cats and feed some carrots to those horses.  And, I’ll talk your ear off – sorry – just catching up!

A Minute on TV!

IMG_1965 c

Don’t you think Abe would be pleased to have his photo at a place of honor in this charming Caboose?  Very fitting for President’s Day Weekend.  No cherry trees, but 150 apple, peach and pear trees, on this 23 acre ranch for sale on Palomar Mountain.

Click to see the Little Red Caboose on Channel 10 News.  All this fun is through the eye of reporter, Joe Little.   We sure have a new respect for the time and work that goes into a minute on the news!  Thanks, Joe!

New Neighbors, Mark and Maybelle LeMay played a part, too.  Oh my, how are we going to top this when they bring the kids up next weekend?!?
