Apple Goodies for the Festival

apple-roses  img_0392

It’s apple baking time!

Everyone is invited to get out your favorite recipe, bake it up and bring to share for the Apple Festival next Sunday.  Last year I made these Apple Roses but still haven’t decided  what will be warm from the oven this weekend.  There is always Applesauce Cake, or a cobbler, crisp or pie.  Oh, I saw a great idea for baked apples in the crock pot.  Or, Hillbilly Apple Smiles with almond slices? Yes, the kids always love those.  So many options for yummy apple treats!

Don’t forget your dancin’ shoes!  Circle the ring and swing your partner Square Dancing. Kids of all ages love the crafts, games, blue grass music, watching the spinning, and little farm animals.  Joe’s chili and corn bread will be back for lunch.  Much, much more!  Here is the info: http://www.palomarsp.org/apple_festival/

Big Rocks on South Grade

The Cruz family was going down South Grade and reports there are big rocks in the middle of the road above 45.4 mile marker.  You can get around them just fine.  I’ve called it in to the County Road Station. They will be out today, doing their job taking care of it and watching for mud slides and more.

You might keep the Road Station number handy: 760 749-0521 Hooray for James and Crew!

We had well over an inch of rain yesterday and it is raining steady all morning.  So thankful for this beautiful rain!

Beautiful Rain

img_0266

Pure eye-candy out there!  Such an absolutely beautiful day with over an inch of gentle rain. I ran over to take photos for the insurance company for Log Cabin Lodge’s escrow.  Had to share this with you, of low clouds over Mendenhall Valley, showing off one of the observatories.  Pretty special up here!

Movie Set – Then and Now – For Sale!

richard-cardella-crater-lake-monster   013

Have you seen ‘Crater Lake Monster’?  A film made in the 1970’s with many of the shots here on Palomar Mountain. In fact, the cabin known as ‘Honey, Stop the Car’ was used in this shot above.  That was back in the days when the kitchen was on the south side of the living area.  You see a bit of the beautiful stone fireplace behind the sheriff, going over maps and doing his job to solve the mystery.

Now the cabin is all brand new and back on the market with a beautiful virtual tour! Check it out all the new photos at http://www.palomarproperties.com/homes and I’m always glad to open the door!

Love to have YOU for new neighbors!
