What kind of Oaks do we have?

The link for a very good guide to identifying your oaks is at the top of the Fire Safe Council’s webpage: http://mypalomarmountain.com/firesafecouncil/

Here is a very good guide for Oaks of California. The best method to identify is looking at the leaves and acorns.

Happy Holler For Sale

5

Looking for a private setting for a family retreat?  The owner has had it for a personal getaway and also a rental.  Oh!  You might even want to live here full time!

The main lodge has a remodeled living, dining, and kitchen area, bathroom with a stone shower, plus a huge bedroom.  A real bonus is the large walk out basement/workshop/laundry area.  Lots of wonderful things created in that shop these past 90+ years…  Then, there is another cabin and bath when family or friends  visit.  Just a holler up the hill, a third cabin awaits.  It could be an artist studio, great office, esty room for your creations… so many options!  A fourth cabin is very original so you can decide what to do there.  Ah, a project-in-the-works!

Two acres, with 3 of the 4 cabins newly remolded.  Come on down. Explore this little hamlet, sit a spell in this delightful setting, under the 100 year old oaks and cedars.  Take in the charm of days-gone-by and see if this one is for you.

Let’s go take a look!

GSOB Info – Dying Trees?

252584display.jpg

Many trees have been impacted by the drought, but we have also had reports of the Gold Spotted Oak Borer (GSOB) on Palomar.

Driving along Hwy 76 and coming up East Grade, you can see trees impacted by the GSOB.

There are two very helpful guides at the top of the Fire Safe Council   Also, you’ll find a link to the GSOB website that has been recently updated.

Check it out and be informed.  More info soon on options for prevention.

The above info with links was provided by:

From: Ricardo Aguilar [mailto:ricardo@apcphc.com]

Here is the information pamphlet.

This is my GSOB Bible, lots of great researched information.

Also you can go to GSOB.org

if you haven’t done so, lots of great updated information here as well.

Let me know if there are any questions,

Thanks!

Un-Plug! Maybe Thunderstorms!

Ok, a chance of thunderstorms just may be heading our way.  Yesterday I was driving to show property listening to my radio.  A thunderstorm alert cut in.  We got a few sprinkles but when I heard that lightening crack off in the distance, I was thinking, “I sure wish my computer was unplugged”!

Now is your chance.  If this storm heads your way, or if you take off for the afternoon, you might want to unplug some things.

We have several stories up here from neighbors who lost their computer, tv, appliances, phone and more during a thunderstorm.

Beautiful, bright blue sky right now and such a lovely day.  Hard to believe a storm may be heading this way ’round noon.  So, just in case, only unplug the things you don’t want to replace…   🙂

(If we do get rain, I’ll be dancing in it!!!)

Like horses?  Like to see a great Show-deo?  Everyone is invited to the Palomar Christian Conference Center for this week’s Closing Ceremony!  It is amazing what those girls have learned to do in one week.  We go each year and it is so fun to watch!

Both our granddaughters happen to be there this week for Horse Camp.  Photos are posted each day:   https://www.facebook.com/PalomarCCC/    Wow!  What a great time these kids have.

This is the last week of Horse camp for the summer.  The closing ceremony will begin at 10 am on Saturday, August, 11, 2018.  You’re asked to arrive 15 minutes early.  Everyone is welcome.

Directions:  Go through the State Park and follow directions to the Christian Conference Center.  When you see the camp buildings, turn into the first parking lot on your left and you will see the horse barn, arena and bleachers off to the left.  You might appreciate a hat and sunscreen.

That was quick! Real Estate Update

1 5 21795-crestline-rd-024

Just 14 short days ago, I posted a message about Life Above the Clouds, a beautiful view home for sale.  We had a buyer up the next day who didn’t hesitate and got his over-asking, offer accepted.  At the same time three others were waiting in line as back-ups.  So sorry to disappoint them, but we have a very happy buyer signing loan docs today with a promised closing of tomorrow!

After several very complicated closings, this 14 day deal is a breath of fresh air.

If you have an off-mountain view home, let’s talk!  We sure have some folks with that on their wish-list!

Also have this new lender in my pocket.  Very impressive to have everything to the finish line in two weeks!  Like to get pre-approved? Just let me know.
