New Neighbors Bob and Susan Perez

It was so fun to meet Bob and Susan Perez at Trunk or Treat! They are one of our newest neighbors. Bob has been camping on Palomar for years and has fond memories back packing under the starry sky. They both loved the peace and serenity of a beautiful forest. Susan however, appreciates things like blow dryers and sleeping indoors with a cozy fire. So, they have the best of both worlds with their mountain retreat.
Bob worked with a power company. He sang that song ‘I am a lineman…’ for many years and retired supervising. Susan has been a much-loved Pre-K and kindergarten teacher.
Their three grown children grew up in Scouting. Both sons made Eagle Scout so have had many great times in the mountains. The most excited are those grandkids who can hardly wait until their next trip to the family cabin.
Welcome Bob and Susan!

Pie Party and Lunch at the Camp!

Palomar Christian Conference Center is hosting another fun time for mountain families. We have about 45 full time kids on the mountain now. (Amazing!) This is another event for some old fashioned fun for kids-of-all-ages.
Design your own crust for a fresh baked pie to take home! I hear the chefs and kitchen crew might have apple and maybe some pumpkin pies ready for that top crust. That will be your job!
We’ll gather ’round the tables and share smiles and ideas and be creative with cookie cutters, learning to decorate or cut and weave the dough. Bring any fall cookie cutters to share to get creative with pie crust. Oh, you might want to bring an apron and maybe some extras just for fun.
When the pies are ready to go in the oven, lunch will be served! What a treat!
Directions: Drive through to State Park, you will pass the entrance (no charge to go through to the camp). Follow the signs to the Conference Center. When you come to the parking lot, park… then walk down to the Dining Hall.
Monday morning (not Tuesday as most Kids Club events are)
9:59 am will get you a great seat!

Got Bees?
It is not fun to get stung!
My hand is back to normal now from one sting (Benadryl and ice) but the buyer for this property was stung about four or five times on his face and arms! He ended up going to the hospital (they told him to use Benadryl and ice – surely there is something stronger…). Then the surveyor was stung! Now, the seller is home from his honeymoon. He is his way with his brand new bride to pack up a few things before closing this escrow. So, those bees needed to go away.
Jeremy Loughran to the rescue! I spoke to eight other options who would not come up! When Jeremy answered, he didn’t even need to be bribed! He immediately said he would be glad to service Palomar. He is on call 24/7, owns and operates his company Bee Free. Jeremy was a pleasure to deal with and great to watch (from inside my car with the windows up). He said he would “be our Bee Man for Palomar”! These were not honey bees but he can re-locate hives for you, too.

Thanks Jeremy!

Feel tonight’s Quake?
Did you feel the earthquake? We were listening to Brett playing his organ a few minutes after 8 pm. My grand daughter whispered, “Look GramBonnie, the organ is making everything shake!” Things didn’t shake very long so I’m thinking that might have been the earthquake we felt.
Thanks Mike for sending this our way!

I sure felt this on the East Grade – like a shotgun … looks like 2 miles SSW of Observatory puts it 1/2 mile NE of Bonnie & Don’s.

8 pm Pumpkin Patch & Bach Concert!
Everyone is invited to ‘Brett’s Pumpkin Patch’ tonight!
8 pm for a 4 minute Organ Concert
Bach Toccata and Fugue in D minor!
One of our full time neighbors, Brett Michael Houser is an amazing organist. He has this magnificent organ in his home. He promised a dozen carved pumpkins that will be lit outside his home on Birch Hill. We are all invited to be in front of his house, on the road. At 8:00 sharp, his door and windows will be open and the organ will begin to play…
Directions: Grab your flashlight, and park at the end of Crestline. (Brett’s home is next door to one of my listings, so you can follow the Palomar Properties signs). At the end of Crestline, take the road to the left (you’ll pass two cabins on each side). Follow that road to the first chance to turn right. Turn right, and continue on that little dirt road. Brett’s home is the 5th cabin on the left. You’ll see the pumpkins out on his deck. The music will start at 8:00 sharp.
After the concert, everybody cheer a big ‘thank you’ to Brett! Then, you might want to walk the loop back to your cars. Just keep going the direction you came, keep turning to the right, and that will take you back to Crestline.
To get you in the mood, here is a performance off You Tube. It is not Brett, but will suffice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkUUjUJ4wHg

Tree down on East Grade

Huge fir tree completely blocking East Grade Road at 5.6 mile marker at about 4:45 pm .
The cowboy had just driven through. Met him at the gate for my showing at Panorama Trail. He turned around and we went back up. My clients were in front of me. A motorcycle passed us on a double yellow, going crazy fast.
It was very close with the no-fear motorcycle guy stopping just in time. Don’t think he will go that fast again. That car coming down, arrived right after wedid. If they had been looking down, they could have hit the tree. Pretty tight curve.
I gave the motorcycle guy a job suggesting he climb over that tree and walk up to let people know about the tree, a little further up the road. He was glad to be alive and did what I suggested.
Guessing our Road Station crew will have it cleaned up pretty quick but you might consider taking the South Grade going up or down tonight.
Pretty dry out there and breezy today…. free firewood!
