Thursday Night at The H!

If your schedule is anything like ours, you have it packed full of holiday parties. How about squeezing in one more sure-to-be-fun evening? This Thursday night, Lazy H for dinner and the always-foot tapping music of Palomar’s own, Smith Mountain Band. They just may include some Christmas music this week!

5 to 8 but be sure to make reservations info@lazyh.com. You’re welcome to share tables which makes it even more fun!

Lazy H is in Pauma Valley and has some wonderful stories of all the folks who have enjoyed dining there for decades. John Wayne, Buster Keaton and Billy and Ruth Graham and many more, during the time they had homes in the valley. Well, now it can be YOU enjoying the grilled chicken or sea bass (my fav), a steak, those yummy pork chops, their homemade soups and salad dressings. As our grandson Atticus says to the waitress, “Please may we have another order of potato skins” and be sure to save room spumoni or creme brulee.

Here you go – hope to see you Thursday Night: https://lazyhranchresort.com/our-menus

Looking for an Investment?

How about the potential for income from 3 units on one piece of land? Or, live in one and rent the two others? I usually don’t post our off-mountain listings but one of you just might be interested in this one. The owners lived in the main house, moved and still have the little cottage and another rental unit rented to some nice folks who would like to stay.

Nathan helped the owners update a bit, staged and listed this 2 days ago so we are promised offers tomorrow, but just in case you’d like to peek, here is a preview: Three on One in Lakeside

Glad to open the doors!

Great day for my Real Estate Broker

Nathan had a great day Monday. As most of you might know, Nathan is one of our two sons and is also my broker in Real Estate. He is so good at seeing potential so has some amazing before and afters of projects he has taken on and worked to see those dreams come true. This latest sale is his biggest project so far. Starting with an old tear-down, Nathan and partners, designed and built a beautiful home in Del Mar. He got in late but it was so nice to sit with him and visit a few minutes. His 24/7 project the last four years on Sunny Acres Lane closed escrow! Ahhhhhh, such a nice feeling.

When his brother, Brandon, wife Heidi and his four nieces and nephews bought their ranch next door, I was so happy Nathan took us up on living in our guest apartment. It’s been a long commute to the coast and all over the county for his listings and sales but so worth it to see those kids that call him ‘Unks’.

A couple weeks ago as Nate was running down to the flatlands, I asked what was on his agenda for the day. His house was already in escrow and he decided to surprise the buyers by planting the garden boxes – perfect timing for them to harvest and they were thrilled:

What’s next for Nate? We’re all hoping to keep him close by. He does have a cabin to rehab on Crestline … but a big, beautiful world awaits! It will be exciting to see what gets his attention.

Thank you for indulging me… such a proud and thankful mom!

‘Forest Dweller’ still thinks we have work to do

Three years ago a call came in from Danny Freeman with Channel 7 NBC. He asked if he could interview me about my thoughts on managing our properties to be more fire safe. My answers would still be the same. Trees and brush are just like children, they grow up so fast. We’ve had tree crews up recently doing fabulous jobs to make some properties much more fire safe and for the buyers to have a much better chance to get insurance.

We have a couple great crews, licensed and insured, to get tree work and property cleanup done. Watch for a post real soon with their contact info and some great before and afters.

Meanwhile here is the video clip with a quick tour around Palomar:

Need your Septic Pumped?

We have a new septic company for Palomar. Recently I found myself needing to make several calls to find companies to service Palomar for a reasonable price. Thad Ostrander said put all his life savings on the line to invest in his truck and start his company “All In Pumping”. His brother is Chad is a licensed septic contractor so is available for repairs. They make a great team. Thad has been up several times now and has saved our clients some money on his service. You can save even more when you have your two lids uncovered and ready for Thad to pump.

I really admire this hard-working entrepreneur.

Two Days of SDG&E Power Outages?

Yes, these power outages are inconvenient, but I sure am thankful the crews are hard at work to make Palomar Poles safer.

A couple months ago, I got to watch the crew replace a pole right across from our property. Fun to see them at work and I had a front row seat at my desk. Two cranes were used and so much involved to orchestrate the pole replacement. I couldn’t resist and went out to talk to the man directing traffic. I was curious why they picked this pole across from us to do first on our road.

He explained that the pole I see in my view every day won the prize for having the most woodpecker holes of all the poles on State Park Road. It is also very weathered being totally exposed, right on the rim. I’d remembered a small piece was left at the side of the road, free for the taking. I went over today for the photo. It is still there to see for yourself and if anyone wants it, first one to show up, it’s yours!

So, it looks like both Friday and Saturday we may have power off from 8 am until almost dark – or so. You are invited to click on both buttons on the map up there in “Cleveland National Forest”. They don’t mention Palomar being impacted, but, hello, it does include us. This outage notice has been a little confusing. First we were told the power would be off Friday unless too windy. Then it would be off on Saturday. Well, now the SDG&E Outage link shows both days. Time will tell…

It will be an interesting two days for those of you dealing with no power. Hoping you’ll be able to take the days off and run errands in the city, read a good book, or come on over! We have free Coffee and Wifi waiting for you. Another idea some folks needing wifi have done is ‘moved’ into the Valley Center Library during these outages. They also have great wifi and a fun museum next door to check out on a break.

Would you like things to be different for you during our next outage? Take advantage of the Generator Assistance Program offered by SDG&E. To qualify you need to live in a high fire area with planned outages. Well, that would be all of us. We had good reports with folks pleased with being prepared with their bargain generators.

Let’s all make the best of it! Humm, maybe I should pop some cookies in the oven first thing in the morning…
