Palomar’s view of “May Gray”

may gray

We’ve had some pretty beautiful views from the Mountain lately.  This is looking out over what folks in the Flatlands sometimes call “May Gray”.  In the foreground is the 576 acre Jeff Valley, soon-to-be National Forest.

Life above the clouds is pretty special up here these days! (Double-click photo to enlarge).

“God Speaking”

God speaking

After being in the clouds much of the past couple days, the sun is really working to pop through.  Driving along State Park Road a few minutes ago, Loralee Arnold was in the car with me.  We made a turn and both looked in awe while pulling over.  Loralee said, “God Speaking”, as her mom would often refer to moments like this.  So beautiful to see the sun’s rays through the misty clouds.

If you haven’t meet Loralee, you must.  She lives in that very artistic ‘enchanted cottage’ behind the Lodge and loves pop-bys.

Come Fly with Us over 82 Acres!

9 82acresHD

Looking for some eye candy?  A beautiful video tour from a drone flying over this 82 acres is waiting for you. I met the owner to list this property a few days ago.  He had been down in a canyon to capture the spring wildflowers. I was out there with my little camera and took pix on the way in.  We’ll just forget about those for now…

The owner is a professional photographer and set up a website for the marketing of this pretty spectacular, 82 acres on the Nate Harrison Grade.  His personal website is pretty impressive and you might have even seen his work in National Geographic and may other places.

All the details are waiting for you here where you can scroll down and see through the owner’s lens:  82 Acres on the Nate Harrison Grade.  Prepare to be wowed!

Let’s meet up and go take a hike!

Celebrating Moms!

mom.jpg

40 years ago yesterday, a new little guy came into the world, Brandon Todd Phelps.  The next day, Don and I surprised my folks on our way home to Palomar.  My dad was the pastor of the Valley Center Church and just finishing up the morning service.  We were able to get there the last few minutes for everyone to meet the little guy and have a big dose of love from all.

When we got to the top of the mountain, we stopped at the General Store and Ralph and Bev Kulk came out to the car.  They were the first mountain friends to meet the newest resident.  Bev ran back in the store and came out with a little Palomar Mountain Sheriff’s badge to pin on and make him an official deputy, just like his dad.

Two years later, his brother, Nathan Adam was born.  We’d moved off the mountain by then but I don’t think Don missed a chance every year to take to boys up for snow days – and cookies, still warm from Rich and Lois Day’s kitchen at Nate Harrison Ranch.  He never called ahead, but Lois said once in a while she would decide to make cookies.  She’d tell Rich, “Don Phelps must be on his way with the boys” and often they would arrive just in time for homemade goodies.

After we sold our place in 1978 and bought the same house back in ’98, we are loving living a mile nearer heaven once again.

Hope you are enjoying happy memories of moms in your life, those of you who have people who call you ‘mom’ and celebrating this day.

Tree, brush work? Weed eating???

FSC logo

The Fire Safe Council is compiling a list of locals who service Palomar, grooming property to make our properties more fire safe.

Our goal is to have a downloadable, printable page, specific to property grooming for fire safety. It will be linked to our Fire Safe Council Website and available at our booth at the PMPO Pancake Breakfast.

We are starting with contacts from the Mountain Yellow Pages but want to make sure our list is up to date.  We don’t want to leave anyone out!

Do you or someone you know provide any of the following services that we could add to the list?

Brush clearing, tree trimming and brush and tree removal, chipping,  stump grinding, weed eating, hauling, burn pile services, mastication, tractor work?

Please comment back and we’ll get this updated for all!

Thank you!

Bonnie

Palomar Mountain Car Wash

IMG_3079

Woke to that lovely sound of RAIN on the roof.  Several appointments today and I thought I should at least hose my car off.  I’d washed the front window a couple days ago, but ohmygoodness, the whole car needs a wash!  When I heard the rain, I knew it was perfect timing for a Palomar Mountain Car Wash!  I went out real quick and moved my car to take advantage of this free service!

When you are with a Realtor in the city, you get to ride in a nice, clean car.  When you go cruising around with me, you have a lot more fun!

Thank you for entrusting me with your Real Estate business since the beginning of the century!  Ready to roll,

Bonnie Phelps, Realtor
