It was great meeting the Union Tribune reporter, Phillip Molnar who was up last winter to do a fun story about Real Estate on Palomar. I really appreciate him including the Palomar link in the above article!

Know how to Whittle?

From: Stacy McGee
My 11 year-old daughter would like to learn how to whittle. We live at the observatory and we’re pretty flexible with our weekday schedule because we homeschool. Does anybody up here know how to whittle, and would be interested in giving my daughter some lessons? I’d like her to do it safely and keep all of her fingers!
Please contact me (Stacy) at 760-742-0214 or through email at smcgee@mydehesa.org. Thanks so much!

Palomar to Oklahoma!

Some of you have had the pleasure of meeting our oldest granddaughter. Here she is a few years ago after lunch at Mother’s Kitchen. We have a delightful time playing dress up.
She is dressing up again and is in the play “Oklahoma”, opening on September 3rd at Kit Carson Park in Escondido. But that is not all! When she went for her audition, someone recognized her Popi. Knowing Brandon sings and has been on stage in the past, he auditioned and got the part of Jud Frye.

A few days later, he called for a source to buy good boots to wear in the show. He is a couple inches taller than his dad and wears a bigger size. Well, I looked out the window at Don’s boots sitting on our patio. That old cowboy told me those boots had always been too big and he’d ordered new ones that just arrived. It so happens they were the perfect size 14 for ole Jud to wear. So, the boots in the show have Palomar dust and have ridden many miles chasin’ cows ’round this mountain.

Brandon plays Jud September 3rd, 8th and 10th. The other three dates, September 2nd, 4th, and 9th he is in the chorus and tap dances and sings.

That cutie in the red dress, Kiki, is in all 6 shows, singing and dancing with a 25 piece orchestra! Pre-sale tickets are half price – $15.00 from a cast member but double that at the door. All tickets are general admission, any seat, any date.
Yes, we’ll be there several times and would love to have you join us.
Here is the website: http://www.the413project.org/
Just let me know and we’ll see you at the show!

New Planet
Although the planet, lost in the glare of the star, cannot be viewed by current telescopes, perhaps Palomar astronomers will see it when the next generation is built a decade from now.
Thanks to Rosemary Johnston for sending the interesting link about a new planet: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/25/science/earth-planet-proxima-centauri.html?emc=eta1

From Palomar to Rio!

Longtime weekenders, Walt and Rosemary Johnston have a lot to be proud of with their daughter-in-law an Olympic coach. The photo shows Afsoon enjoying the view from their deck on the mountain. She has quite an impressive story on her ‘road to Rio’. Congratulations to all!

Then and Now – Home For Sale

We’ve had some warmer days and I just thought you might like to cool off a bit with a snow scene. We’ll have snow up here before we know it! When we are treated to a winter wonderland, ‘Honey Stop the Car’ is a great place to call home! You just can’t beat the Four Season access fronting that plowed road on Crestline.
The snow photo is dated December 1970 with a Christmas Greeting from the Sasaway family. I wanted to take a recent photo from the same location, but huge trees have grown up over the past 46 years. The cabin has grown, too! It now has a second deck and so many updates.
Just added a few new photos to the marketing you find on the ‘Homes’ page: http://www.palomarproperties.com/homes/index.html
You don’t need to bring your mittens just yet, but I am glad to open the door. Come on up for your tour!
