This sure has been a beautiful couple days after our last snow!

The bright blue sky was calling to me so I kidnapped a ‘driver’ and we took off.  That cowboy was pretty patient as we were out for a couple hours.  I couldn’t resist hiking around to capture lots of snow photos of current listings to head your way real soon.

But, alas!  My ears got so cold and really ached!  About that time we saw Mountain Contractor, Tom Fortney.  I mentioned my ears and he cautioned that the same thing happened to him and I needed to keep my ears covered.  Just a tip for all of you with our lower-than-normal temps. (Thanks Tom for the fun pic of me with no hat! I’ll remember next time).

Happy ducks with all this rain!  Looks like Palomar has little water features popping up everywhere!

Tonight we are promised some of the white stuff and about 10 degrees colder than last week for a few more days.   Check out the weather report.

I’ll never forget a few years ago.  I had just been mailed keys to a new cabin listing by the out-of-state owners.   Running in to take photos, I was so surprised to see their toilet in several broken pieces on the floor with a chunk of ice in the middle.  We don’t need that kind of drama up here.  It is easy to avoid.  Simply have your water off, pipes drained and antifreeze in the sinks, tub/shower drains and toilets.

Heading out now with some antifreeze for my current listings. Are you a weekender that needs your property winterized?  Like some help? Just let me know.  We have several options for you.

Now, we need to get those sleds lined up, soup on, and the hot chocolate and marshmallows ready to go.

A quick trip to the city yesterday included a stop at Soapy Joes.  Place was packed.  Didn’t everyone know a storm was heading our way?  I spent waaaaaay more than the 5 minutes you are supposed to, in a feeble attempt to clean the interior of my car.

For those of you who have looked at property with me, I might have remembered to mention this:

“When you look at property in the city, you get to ride in a nice clean car.  When you’re out with me, you have a lot more fun, often making our own little dirt roads…” 

Well, that line is getting old and I think the next trip down, will be a visit to a pro to do some detailing.

Meanwhile, today I glanced at the latest weather forecast showing the storm was to arrive “after 4:00”.  I ran over to check my latest listing at 2:00. I figured it would give me plenty of time to stay dry.  Wouldn’t you know, the sky opened up with rain, then hail, now quite a bit more rain.

I was going to offer a pretty clean 4WD for my next client to see property, but it is, what it is!

It’s COLD out there!!!

Do you have extra blankets or jackets you are no longer using?   When I get new listings, there are often closets full of lots of jackets that are out-grown and extra blankets that we pass on.  Now is your chance to give to a worthy cause.

Valley Center Middle School is at the top of the Rincon Grade, at Lake Wohlford Road.  Drop off by Friday, February 1st.  Or, you are welcome to bring your donations to our place by the January 31st and we’ll deliver.

SDG&E is doing a great job replacing the wooden poles with steel.  Of course, our power needs to be off on days when the work is being done.  Notices are mailed to affected property owners.  The next date for the Crestline Birch Hill folks is this Saturday between the hours of maybe 9 am to about 3:00.

The work is much appreciated to make Palomar more fire safe for all.
