Tree Removal Program starts Monday!

From: Stan Hill

Hello Everyone,

We plan to start cutting dead and dying trees this coming Monday, the 13th of October. I have a couple of banners coming that we can hang in the neighborhood. I have spoken with one of the firewood guys and Robert about wood removal and have a plan. Also, we have a chipping person that will be following up to clean up each property. As always, we will adjust as we go to get it just right.

We plan to look for any trees that pose immanent threat first. Then the contractor will decide the most efficient order.

Please check the updated map. If you have dead or dying trees on your land, make sure your parcel is marked. Yes! You can still sign up! Simply click on the QR code or reach out to me and we’ll get you on the list.

SPACEX Rocket from Palomar Mountain

Did you have a front row seat for the SPACEX launch tonight? We did, and are glad to share!

Nathan was working outside at Round House Ranch and the bright lights in the sky caught his eye. He called out to me to “come quick”. I’d been taking some photos downstairs so happened to have my camera in my hand. I ran up the stairs and out on the deck just in time to capture this for you.

In a few seconds the rocket had passed by, out to the east and hidden by trees. Nate pulled up their website to watch the remainder of the mission, live. So impressive to see that rocket turn around and land back on earth out in the Pacific. Click for the SPACEX link to view anytime. It’s a pretty impressive 15 minutes.

Bonnie and Nathan – still in awe!

Vote for your Favorite Stamp by Tues. Sept 30th

Hello Everyone,

When this email arrived, I clicked thorough to glance at the stamps. The train engine caught my eye. It has always been interesting to see railroad easements on some of the properties off State Park Road. Apparently the idea of having a train ride available to the top of Palomar Mountain was important enough a hundred plus years ago to have the deeds drawn up and recorded. That would have been quite a project to run the tracks from sea level all the way up to nearly 6000 feet. Oh the adventures to hear about if we’d had our own little depot up here!

Keep reading for how you can vote for your favorite stamp:

Vote For Your Favorite Stamp to be Reissued by Sept. 30

As Postmasters for Valley Center, Pauma Valley, Pala, and Palomar Mountain, we are proud to share that the United States Postal Service is inviting the American public to help shape a unique part of our nation’s cultural history — our postage stamps.

Through the Encore Stamp Campaign, the Postal Service is giving everyone a chance to vote on their favorite previously issued stamps, with the top five being reissued as Forever® stamps in a special Encore Collection set to debut in 2026.

Voting ends on September 30, 2025, and you can vote for your top five favorites from a list of 25 beloved stamp designs at stamps forever.com/vote. These stamps reflect the rich diversity of America — from natural landscapes and artistic achievements to cultural icons and moments in history.

There’s no limit to how many times you can vote — so let your passion for stamps, history, and design shine through. The winning stamps will be revealed at the Boston 2026 World Expo, a celebration of global philately and innovation.

At the Postal Service, we’ve long believed in the power of stamps to capture moments, honor milestones, and connect people. The Encore Stamp Campaign continues that legacy — and now, we’re inviting you to be a part of it.

We’d love to hear which stamps you are voting for! Please stop in and let us know.

Sincerely,

Beatriz Ibarra, Pauma Valley, Pala, and Palomar Mountain

It’s Hard to Understand

When I saw this family looking out to another beautiful Palomar sunset from my desk, I had to zoom in and capture it for you. There are so many things happening in our country and around the world … sometimes it is hard to understand.

If you’d ever like to talk, you’re always welcome ’round our fire.

Like cement work done?

The idea of pouring a little step in front of two doors, grew to be a nice patio addition pretty quick. Our son Nathan framed and laid the rebar so it was ready when Corey Miller and Crew showed up, bright and early. They poured nine and a half yards of concrete, finished it off and were heading back down the mountain in just a few hours. We are so pleased.

When Nate spoke with him about the job, he mentioned another he’d done another up here a few years ago. I do believe that one is the largest cement job on the mountain. It is still very beautiful and in excellent condition.

Corey Miller Custom Concrete is close by in Valley Center 760-803-2223

You are welcome to stop by to check out his most recent job and see his work at Round House Ranch.
