George Evangelou was born in Virginia in 1952 and has lived in San Diego County since infancy.
A semi-retired lawyer, George has been a regular visitor to the Mountain for the last 46 years.
George does residential and commercial electrical repairs, and owns a machine shop where he manufactures parts for local businesses.

Welcome to the Board, George!

Many of us got an email today looking like it was from someone most of us know on the mountain with the message below.  It was an example of an email e-dress being captured, used with dishonest intentions, and is being dealt with.   After several messages from some of you questioning the situation, I thought it would be good to turn around Ann’s below.   I did X out the name and e-dress to avoid causing any more grief for the pirated sender.   It is not uncommon to get a message like this from someone you may know – just don’t send money!  Now, go out and make it a great day!   Bonnie Phelps

New CCPM Board Member

We would like to extend a warm welcome to Louise Walls, our newly appointed CCPM Board Member. Louise Walls is a retired Administrative Assistant and has been a mountain resident for 8-1/2 years. She is the wife of Earl Walls, who designed the new Center and managed the remodel project. Louise and her family have volunteered countless hours at the Center over many years.

As an 8-1/2 year mountain resident, Louise has watched the Center evolve from an old dirty building to what it is today and is looking forward to helping make it a focal point of our mountain community.

TK Bergman passed on another story including tales of Palomar a hundred years or so ago.  Written by Jeff Smith and published in The Reader, I’m guessing the next time you are driving along Hwy 79 pretty confident that you will get to your destination in one piece, you may think of trials some of the pioneers endured along the same road. 

Here is a quote from Arlie to lure you into Jeff’s story of days not so long ago:  

“Deadman’s isn’t a good place to rob a stage passing through,” says Arlie Bergman, whose ancestors — the Bergmans and Mendenhalls — helped settle Palomar Mountain. “They were always ready for trouble; in fact, there were very few Butterfield robberies around here. But it’s a good place to bushwhack individuals camped alone near the springs. They had to have money on them somewhere.”
