Dutch playin’ and singin’ Sunday afternoon – you’re invited!

Just found out that Palomar Mountain’s, The Singing Cowboy, Dutch Bergman is one of the featured musicians at the Harvest Festival in Pauma!

The Festival runs from 2:00 to 8:00 pm with lots of great entertainment and fun games and prizes for the kids.

However, if you’d like to hear Dutch, you’ll want to be there a little before 4:00 as he is to perform from 4:00 to 6:00pm

Directions from the Mountain:  Drive down into Pauma, you’ll go past the Country Club, past Cole Grade Road, and past Reservation Road (that leads to Pauma Casino), keep going, and the Mission is right away on the left.

FireSight headed to Palomar?

From: Brad Eells [mailto:bradlnss@ca.rr.com]
Hello Fire Detectors and friends!

Volunteer, Howard Gillins forwarded this story from the San Diego Union-Tribune. The story is very much about fire detection and new cameras being installed on…you guessed it, former Fire Lookout Station sites!

San Diego County clearly takes its fire detection seriously…I think we can help!

Cheers,

Like to take an Astronomy Class? Pretty exciting!

From: Anandamayi Baker

If you are at all interested in the night sky, now is your chance to sign up for a once-a-month class on Astronomy here on Palomar Mountain. Mark Lane, a new docent at the Observatory, has graciously offered to teach a class, free of charge, once a month. Mark is a professor of Earth, Space, and Aviation Sciences at Palomar College in San Marcos and his willingness to share his knowledge with us is incredible. He wanted to have at least 10-15 people, and I already have 8-10 that are interested. The material will be more basic in nature, nothing difficult as we might expect at a regular school setting. He needs some time to figure out what his schedule would be, so at this point I cannot tell you what day of the week/month it would take place. Please email me back if you would like me to save you a spot in the class, and I will keep you posted with new developments.

Thank you,

Anandamayi
