Progressive Dinner and Music this Saturday!

Hoping YOU are planning on joining in on the community fun this Saturday Night!

5:00 pm The festivities begin at Earl and Louise Wall’s home for appetizers.   Bring your family favorite appetizer and we’ll have a delightful evening caroling around the piano while enjoying their home that Earl designed to take advantage of the fabulous view.

6:30 ish Mike and Sue Stevens (started this whole idea this year!) will have a big pot of Mike’s mountain venison chili and Sue’s home-made cornbread.  We’re also looking for someone to have a crock pot of a favorite soup to also share at this stop (Will that be YOU?) .  You’ll love seeing what they have done with a huge remodeling project starting out as a tractor barn and now a wonderfully inviting hunting lodge.

8:00 ish We all bundle up and head off for yummy desserts and my family recipe of the best hot cider you’ve ever had!   Hot chocolate, coffee, tea and tasty desserts. Where will that take place?  Well, we had such a fun time at the Palomar Lodge after caroling last Thursday, I asked the owner if we could use it Saturday night and (drum roll) he said “Yes”.  Terri and Vandy Bailey had it decorated so pretty and left it all set for us.  We’ll warm up by the fire, getting to know our mountain neighbors.

Bring:  Your favorite appetizer, soup, or dessert.

Questions?  Leave a comment or call 760 742-1742.

Merry Christmas to all!

I still remember when you first showed us our land.  You asked us to wear “no open toe shoes”.

Chiropractor on Palomar!

  Have Table – Will Travel!

Have you fallen recently or injured yourself?  Are you having migraines or headaches?

Do you have some ache or sore that hasn’t resolved yet or that you are concerned about?

Palomar Mountain has its very own licensed, mobile chiropractor who will come to you for your health needs!

Dr. Loren Moore is here to help!  He is an experienced chiropractor who tailors every treatment to your body’s specific needs. He addresses the alignment and integrity of your spine, muscles, and ligaments as well as the other areas often overlooked that make-up your total well-being: nutrition, toxins, allergens, electromagnetic hypersensitivities, and the physiologic effect of emotional stressors.

TESTIMONIALS from Mountain folks:

While I was caroling a few nights back, I took a misstep into a small hole and jarred my back. The pain was excruciating and it was difficult to get up from a seated position. Dr. Moore came by and worked on me. Immediately I felt much better!  The next day the pain was completely gone and I could get around more freely!   – Abraham

I had been suffering from pain and tingling in both my hands for quite some time. At my age, I was very concerned that it might be arthritis. Dr. Moore worked on my neck, back, and my arms and the joint pain and tingling have stopped! I’m so very grateful for his help!  – Mary

My husband and I drove to Palomar mountain to visit friends. Sitting in the car, coupled with twisting tending our baby in the back seat, the middle of my back went out.  As a result, it became very painful and difficult to breathe. Dr. Moore adjusted my rib and did trigger-point therapy on my back to relax the spasms I was experiencing. I am now feeling and breathing just fine!  – Amanda

A couple weeks ago, I was riding my horse when he slipped on the ice and we both fell.  I’m thankful that Loren could work on me that night as the pain was much relieved and my range of movement was returned.  Now, I’m able to saddle up again and go!  – Don

Suffering from migraines for over a week, Loren adjusted me and found some pressure points that provided amazing relief.  My headache is gone and we’re taking off on vacation! Thank you Loren!  – Carla

When you, or someone you know can benefit from his services, please call or email to book an appointment, order a Holiday Gift Certificate, or get your questions answered.

Last minute Notes – Hayride, Caroling and Fireside Fun

From: Julie McEntee and Peggy Cross

Everyone is welcome to our community evening of fun tomorrow night Thursday, December 9th!

Many elves have volunteered to help get ready to have a great time getting to know neighbors while spreading Christmas Cheer!

Thanks to Terri and Vandy Bailey and Crew that  will decorate  the Lodge for our Christmas Party!

Hooray to cement mason David Brooks who repaired two of the stairs. Glenn Borland will have the water and power on for us. Cecilia Borland and Lorne Moore cleaned off the tables and chairs and have everything ready for the Decorating Crew to wave their magic wands in the morning!  Ovens are warming up for homemade cookies and appetizers.  Ken, (Peggy’s husband) has his guitar tuned and will have a stack of songbooks to share.  Be sure and bring your flash light!

You don’t want to be out in the cold?  That is ok!  Robert and Anita Carlyle are not interested in being cold either so they volunteered to “tend the fire” at the Lodge and YOU are welcome there too after 6 pm.  They will have Christmas Music playing and you can join them relaxing by the fire.

Carolers can meet at the following times:

6:00 at the Cross’ home at the Conference Center 760 742-1937

6:20 ish at the Phelps’ Square House on State Park Road where you can climb in Don’s horse trailer (dress warm and bring your blankets) and sit on bales of hay OR you can car pool with others in heated vehicles (ah, luxury)  760 742-1742

Then we are off to Bailey Meadow Road where we will Carol and maybe even pick up a few folks to come along!

Our next stop will be going up Crestline where we see lights on!  We’ll carol, and you can join us if you’d like.

We plan to end up at the Lodge (at the end of Crestline Road on the left) sometime around 8:30 for hot cider, hot chocolate, coffee (ok, decaf), appetizers and desserts.  There will be some fun prizes too!

Hope you can join us!  Merry Christmas and God Bless you everyone!

Julie 742-3763  and Peggy 742-1937

Know of Samuel Striplin who owned a Saw Mill decades ago?

Anyone out there have an old photo to share of Sam Striplin who lived down in Pedley Valley almost a century ago?  See note below from his great, great, great-nephew.

From: Tom Striplin

I am doing genealogy research on my family and my GGG uncle Samuel Striplin lived in the Pedley Valley on Palomar Mountain and once owned an old sawmill.  He is listed in some of the document works by Peter Bruggeman.  I was wondering if you ever heard his name and what I was really searching for is a photo of him.  I have been looking at quite a few documents and references but nothing yet.

Sincerely,

Tom Striplin  www.striplinfamily.com

Christmas Progressive Dinner – How about YOU?

Thanks to Mike and Sue Stevens we have a Christmas Progressive Potluck Dinner planned for Saturday night, December 18th!

It was Mike’s Big 5-0 a few weeks ago and they had such a fun birthday bash.  A few days later Mike called saying they would like to meet more of their mountain neighbors and host the main course of a Progressive Dinner.  Mike promises his homemade Venison Chili and Sue has authored a cookbook and has a cornbread planned for us to enjoy at their Upper Meadow Ranch.  Sounds good to me! Very good!

This is where YOU come in!  We are looking for someone to host Appetizers and another home for Dessert.  Are you game?  It has been so fun in the past with different people bringing their favorite specialities to contribute…

Appetizers could even be at a small cabin because it could be more of a come-and-go Open House.  Then we’ll have a set time to show up at Mike and Sue’s where they have lots of room for a crowd.  How about it?  And, who wants to host the yummy desserts?  Let’s talk about it!

Bonnie and Don  760 742-1742

(Beautiful photo, isn’t it?  Taken on Palomar at Bel Sito by Mary Ann Robinson. Thanks Mary Ann!)
