Do you remember Scott’s Cabin Trail Spur in the State Park?

Lots_of_pics_052.jpg (no description)

LOOKING FOR PEOPLE WHO REMEMBER SCOTT’S CABIN TRAIL “SPUR”

Do you have a vivid memory of Scott’s Cabin Trail at Palomar Mtn. State Park? To be more specific, the “spur” that went from State Park Road (Silvercrest picnic area) to the main Scott’s Cabin Trail? If so, your input may be valuable. This trail has been obliterated and closed for a long time due to fire damage and logging, but work is under way to restore it. You may have some valuable information that could help us identify/verify the location of remnants that may still exist so we can piece it back together. For more info, please email Rick Barclay at  barclay_zone@yahoo.com

Thanks.

Huge Oak tree in road on South Grade

Just got a call from a neighbor about a large oak tree blocking the uphill side of South Grade near the 42.2 mile marker.  I talked to the Road Dept. and they are on the way.  If you are heading out, you might want to take it easier than normal going around the curves.  Lots of strong wind last night!

Cold winds might cause power outages

This is s good time to NOT park under some of these old oak trees.  We have tales of woe from several Mountain folks who have done that durning storms only to have their car turn into a pancake!  :{

Union Trib article about strong winds possibly headed our way and a Weather conditions link from SDG&E  (Thanks for our News Scout, Rosemary Johnston).

Date change for Praise and Worship Night

Palomar Praise & Worship

Normally the first Sunday night of each month, but with the Super Bowl on Sunday, we’ve changed the date (GO GREEN BAY!!!) !  Everyone is invited to Palomar Praise and Worship on the SECOND Sunday evening this month.

Play along with your guitar, viola, autoharp, harmonica or whatever!  We sing popular contemporary worship songs from today and the past, along with hymns of the faith, interspersed with prayer and Bible reading.

Sunday Evening, February 13th, 6:29 pm

Location: The Round House – Take State Park Road to Fern Meadow Road (across the street from the entrance to the County Road Station). Follow the sign to the Round House. (If it is snowing or roads are muddy, we will meet in the apartment above the ‘Square House’ at 20720 State Park Road 760 742-1742)

Mountain Lion spotted on Crestline

From: Elizabeth Liemandt

Driving to work this morning (Monday, Jan 31, 5:15am), I saw a Mountain Lion on Crestline.  It ran in front of my car, from the house on the corner curve with the really big windows up the hill (Paul and Kathy Fitzgerad’s)  towards the house with the steep driveway right across from it (Keith and Colleen Ronchetti’s).  Thought I should probably mention it.

Hope all is well!

Elizabeth Liemandt
