Send your State Park Pix to Rick!

Rick Barclay is the leader of Palomar Mountain State Park’s volunteer trail maintenance crew.  He is also the webmaster for the park’s website (about 2 months old).  http://www.palomarsp.org  THANKS RICK!!!

You can use it as a resource for people to use to write letters to the governor and legislators about the closure. You’ll see it referred to on the home page. It also includes a link to a website that lets people find out who their legislators are and their addresses.

From: Barclay Family

Palomar Mountain State Park now has a website, and we need your help “putting a face” on it. Please send us photos of your visit … hiking, camping, picnicking, fishing … action shots, relaxing, posing… the Palomar experience is all about people just like you!   To learn more, visit: http://palomarsp.org/photos.htm

Music at the Lodge tonight!

Ohmygoodness!  Like to hear some GREAT bluegrass music tonight with your Mountain neighbors?   Cabin owner, James Rust invited all his musician buddies up and WOW they are soooooooooooo good that I thought more people should have a chance to hear and join in!

The band knows that a lot of you are musicians too so everyone is invited to bring your guitar, banjo, harmonica, or gut bucket (that would be Earl Walls!)  and come join in the old fashioned fun!

The pix were taken at the Community Center this morning but tonight James promises about a dozen musicians – plus YOU!  (We should video this for You Tube!!!)

Thanks to the owner of the Historic Palomar Mountain Lodge who has graciously let us open the doors this evening for some toe-tappin’ tunes!

6:30 this evening, May 14, 2011

Bring your own chairs please as there are no tables or chairs.  We’ll have the coffee on and some lemonade.  Like to make a quick dessert or bring your favorite munchie?  That would be welcomed!  John Lesac promised that he will start up his oven – yum!  Oh, and please call your neighbors and be sure to bring the kids!  It will be very fun!

See you there!

Send an email in Support of State Parks

Palomar Mountain is a favorite spot in San Diego for people to get away from the urban area. Activities including hiking, camping, birdwatching and fishing. The park is on the state's list of sites to be closed by July 2012.When I saw the news earlier today about Palomar being one of 70 State Parks to close, I called Brad Eells.  Brad is the visionary and the Action Guy behind restoring High Point and now Boucher Lookout.  Boucher is in Palomar State Park.  Brad sent the following link asking all of us to voice our support to keep our 2000 acre State Park open.  As many of you have suggested, volunteers would need to step up to the plate. You can start by emailing your support.  It’s appreciated by many of us and generations to come.
