Palomar Summer

Enjoy another lovely poem from Kathy inspired by a summer day on our favorite Mountain.  Thank you Kathy!

From: Kathy Derengowski

  Palomar Summer

On Palomar the summer day

Is splashed with gold and green

The sky above is azure

The air is crisp and clean.

The bees are making honey

The squirrels and chipmunks play

Wildflowers scent the gentle breeze

Which cools the hottest day.

We gather at the general store

Or plan to take a hike

We bring a picnic to the park

There’s plenty here to like.

Still later, when the sun goes down

We sit outside and gaze

While countless stars and constant moon

Keep their appointed ways.

You may come for our bar-b-que

Or just to get away

You only plan a visit…

I predict you’ll want to stay!

SOS Expo June 21 – can YOU attend? Save Our State Parks!

Submit your registration by June 6th to attend SOS!

Dear SOS (Save Our State Parks) Partners,

On Tuesday, June 21, CSPF (California State Park Federation) will be hosting a SOS Campaign event at the State Capitol in Sacramento. We invite you to join us to share with policymakers and the public what would be lost with the planned closure of 70 state parks. The central component of this event will be the State Park Expo.

During the Expo we want to showcase your organization’s knowledge and expertise about the cultural, natural and recreational benefits that will be lost by closing your state park. We hope to feature each of the 70 state parks planned for closure- and we need your participation in order to make this event a success! In addition to the expo, we will be organizing lobby visits and holding a press conference/rally.

We hope you can join us for this event. Contact Lindsey or go to the website for a registration form, which provides an itinerary and information on travel assistance.

Please confirm your participation by submitting your registration form no later than 5 p.m. on June 6, 2011. We have also attached a recap of the SOS campaign conference call held last week.

Please contact us with any questions you have regarding this event. We look forward to seeing you in Sacramento on June 21!

Sincerely, Linsey Fredenburg-Humes Grassroots Manager California State Parks Foundation
