New Neighbors – Ron and Gwyn

When Gwyn Martz and Ron Leslie met, and discovered that their dogs were both named “Teddy”, they knew that to be a sign of good things to come!  Gwyn has been wanting a cabin on Palomar forever, envious of her friend Terri Sproul who gets to live in “Paradise”. Since escrow closed on Gwyn’s little treasure, she has had a permanent smile.  “How can you not smile with everyone so friendly, such great hiking, big, beautiful trees, and it is so peaceful and quiet?”  When she is not counting down the days for the completion of her next project, she works as an office manager, while Ron is with SDG&E, races cars, and is intrigued hearing that there may have recently been a Big Foot sighting back in hills up here.

Cecelia’s Farm makes your heart feel good!

Cecilia's Farm Palomar Mountain   Cecelia Borland's Farm Palomar Mountain   Cecelia's Farm Palomar Mountain

Looking for a fun field trip?  What a delight to visit Cecelia at her farm.

Usually there are baby goats to play with, eggs to gather, sheep to snuggle, yarn to spin in the loom room and seasonal fruit or vegetables to harvest.  You might even be there for a birth of baby goats or sheep in the spring or summer.  Sheering happens in April or May.  It is extra special to plan your visit during feeding and milking time.

It is a working farm so you are invited to pitch in and help clean pens, which is always much appreciated.  Would you like to learn to make cheese?  You’ll love seeing Cecelia’s stone cheese cave and cheese making happens almost daily.  You can buy fresh eggs and take home lots of laughter, and memories to treasure.

If you are out in the Birch Hill or Conifer Road area, it is a fun hike to this “Walkable Adventure”.  They do have very protective livestock guardian dogs so other dogs need to stay home.

Donation$ are appreciated toward the continuous “Feed Bill”.   Thank you so much!

Call or text first please.  Cecelia 760-594-4688

Palomar to be welcomed into Old-Growth Forest Network – today!

Very last minute – You are invited to come by our place for coffee and goodies and meet the folks that put this together.  Come on over!

Bonnie

Dear Forest Lovers,

The lack of snow on Palomar Mountain means that we can go ahead with the planned dedication celebration at 1pm today (Sunday). Palomar Mountain State Park is being welcomed into the Old-Growth Forest Network. This Network selects one protected, open to the public, exemplary forest in each county of the nation (where forests can grow) and helps people connect with these special places (see www.oldgrowthforest.net). For San Diego County, California, Palomar Mountain State Park has been selected. A small group of people will gather today at the Silvercrest Picnic Area for a brief celebration of this dedication. All interested persons are welcome to attend.

Bonnie Phelps has graciously opened her home on State Park Rd, to warm up after.

A map of the picnic area location can be found at this link:

Looking forward to seeing you there!
