Chef Bernard: “Life is Simply Delicious…!”

Chef Bernard, Marine Room, San Diego  Happy Birthday to Chef Bernard Guillas!  One of my great joys are the reviews from guests at the vacation rentals on Palomar. They have all been so fun to read. Here is a special one that I thought some of you would enjoy, too.

Chef Bernard, the Executive Chef at the Marine Room and La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club enjoyed 5 days at Cabin Fever.  They were treated to our last rain storm which added a bit of spice to his “perfect recipe” for his birthday celebration and “staycation” from his very busy season in La Jolla.  We agree with you, Chef Bernard, that life is “simply delicious” up here, a mile nearer heaven!

His signature in the Cabin Fever guest book is his logo with his name and chef’s hat – pretty clever! There is more to learn about our most recent guest at his website www.chefbernard.com and you can check out his acclaimed cookbook Flying Pans, Two Chefs One World at www.twochefsoneworld.com.

Chimney Sweep minus Top Hat

pb   Pott Belly Shoppe Chimney Sweep

He said his top hat blew off with all this crazy weather we’ve been having!

These guys are pretty good at singing and dancing ’round the chimneys up here.  We get ours cleaned each year and the Pott Belly Shop in Ramona always is a pleasure to do business with.  They have a beautiful showroom for all things woodstoves, and are a great source for those wonderful propane fireplaces, too.

Rolling for YOU in Real Estate

Susie Kellogg and Bonnie Phelps, www.PalomarProperties.com

It was great to meet up with The-Best-Escrow-Gal-In-The-World at the BBQ this weekend!  Susie Kellogg is a neighbor up here, wife of our Fire Chief, Cliff Kellogg, and has been such a huge asset for my Real Estate business the last few years.  She has been in escrow for 25+ years now.  My only regret is that we didn’t team up sooner!  So, when you buy or sell on Palomar, she is the one who dots the i’s and crosses the t’s.  Hooray for Susie!

She just helped finish up an escrow last week that was the first cabin that I’ve had a part in SIX times!  Think it is done now during my shift, as the next door neighbor just had to have it to have TWO vacation rentals next door to each other.  That should be a great investment – Real Estate that pays for itself!

Susie got a new escrow opened for us yesterday – Deer Highway out off Conifer Road has an anxious new owner heading to the Mountain real soon.  But, there are still two more pieces of land available on Lots and Land for you to check out.

Inventory is low!! We are down to only two Homes For Sale, both beauties.  Homes much-loved by the sellers.  Lets help them find the perfect new owners!

There is only one ranch on the Ranches page!  If you haven’t seen that charming log cabin, caboose, and the seven car garages yet, you are in for a treat!  Plan your visit right, and you just may go home with a couple apples from that orchard!

The owner of Bella Luna called and gave a price reduction.  She is hoping for a new owner before winter.  Check it out on the Cabins page along with the other cabins that could be so fun to move in and enjoy for the holidays!

The summer was packed with guests at the Vacation Rentals.  Lots of great reviews!  Now taking bookings for Fall and the Holidays!

Some of you might be intrigued in what my son, Nathan, is up to with his projects.  His website is now linked to mine and available here.  Today he listed a new opportunity in San Diego.  It is a vacant lot they recently cleared, now with pre-approved plans and permits paid, for two units on one parcel.  One of the very few vacant lots in the University Heights area.  Looks pretty fun with their artist renditions!

How may we help YOU with your Real Estate needs?  Just let me know!

My 7th Grade Art Teacher’s Cabin is for Sale!

  cabin for sale palomar mountain

There is a very wonderful cabin coming up for you and it has a cute story!

When I met with the owner a few weeks ago, we sat in the very inviting living room with that big open beamed ceiling and had a little chat.  He told me about some of the impressive features of the construction  – the real wood paneling in the living room was repurposed and refinished and is 5/8 of an inch thick!  The walkout basement was designed as a garage and the builder planned a little room there for a sauna (could also be a nice wine cellar!).  He also has great memories of family and friends enjoying the cabin and playing games around the table.  He and his wife plan to make most of the furnishing optional – just a nice little visit.  Then he asked if I grew up in Vista, and if I took an art class at Lincoln Junior High School in 7th grade!!!

Yes!  And his wife was my teacher!!!  So, when they came up to the BBQ on Saturday, I just had to have my picture taken with Mrs. Wetzell!  Come buy their cabin!!!  So cute!  Check it out and let’s go on a tour!

Lots of Booths at the BBQ Tomorrow!

sand    car

There are a lot of vendors with booths at the Fire Department BBQ tomorrow.  The booths will be over in the Group Camp Ground area so be sure to check them out!

We have a half-size Model T that is fun for the kids to climb on and take photos.  And, what do you think of the Sand Box???  That is a little cabin on a hill (I should have paid more attention in my art class)!  Very fun to play with!  Stop in and build your dream cabin!!!  Just the right colors for the new look for Palomar Properties – I couldn’t resist!

See you at the Barbecue!

Hwy 76 Joel Mendenhall Memorial Highway proposal

Thanks to the work of Assemblywoman Marie Waldron, the effort to name a portion of Highway 76 the Joel Mendenhall Memorial Highway is one step closer to reality.
Waldron’s Bill, ACR 165, has cleared committee and should be heard this week on the Assembly Floor and should have no problem being adopted.
The Bill calls for the placement of three signs and if you would like to help with donations to accomplish that, it would be great. Once the bill passes we will have more info as to cost, etc. At that time we will set up some vehicle for donations. We will keep you informed.
