New Neighbors – Shane, Vero and Family

Shane and Veronique Palomar Mountain

The folks out there on Observation Point have new neighbors!  When Shane and Veronique drove up to Deer Highway, Vero knew they had found their land Day One, just looking from the road. It took Shane a few more hours, some scratches and some poison oak discovered while walking the boundary, to fall in love. By day they are both scientists in drug discovery. Besides being outdoors they love tending their trees and garden.  Here’s the family loving their new nine acres: O.G., (Nanna) Jan, Morgane, Shane and Veronique.  Welcome to Palomar Mountain!

Thanksgiving Greetings to You

fall colors on Palomar mountain  So glad I had my camera yesterday as the sun was setting and shining on our firewood, treating us to some Fall Color.  There is so much to be thankful for living on Palomar Mountain, but the little things make it extra special.  Don’t you love it when the temperatures drop and we get to stoke up the woodstove?  We enjoy so much our step back in time, to the lifestyle of the “good ole days”.  It’s so nice sitting ’round a campfire with family and friends, and the beauty of our Four Seasons, a mile nearer Heaven.

Wishing this Thanksgiving finds you with many blessings and plenty of reasons to Give Thanks.

God Bless you all,

Bonnie

Like a Cabin for Christmas? New easements for you!

cabin for christmas

There are some cabins waiting for you that could be fun in your stocking!  Some owners have made them even more attractive with recent price reductions.  Check them out on the Cabins page!

We also have a new discovery that is very special for parts of Palomar.  This is a HUGE plus for all the cabin listings at this very minute.  Old recorded deeds were found at the county that enable our title company to plot easements from the cabins to the main road.  (We’ll have more details on that soon).

Meanwhile, what this means to anyone looking to invest in a cabin is that they can now be purchased with a conventional loan. Some sellers are open to carry back also and we are set up to do escrows to get you in for our first snow!

Pretty special!  We’re on the Mountain this week and let’s go open those doors and talk turkey!

Reflecting on our Blessings

marie logo  From: Tom Stinson, for Assemblymember Marie Waldron, AD 75

Thanksgiving, a time to reflect on our blessings

Thanksgiving has arrived. It’s a time to enjoy family and friends and to take at least a few moments to give thanks about how fortunate we Americans are to live in this land of abundance and liberty.

Thanksgiving commemorates the Pilgrims first harvest in America in 1621. There were numerous Thanksgiving celebrations in early American history, including one proclaimed by George Washington to celebrate the victory over the British at Saratoga during the Revolutionary War. The modern holiday was proclaimed by President Lincoln in 1863, and has been celebrated every year since.

We Americans have a great deal to be thankful for. We live in a nation founded on the notion that all men are created equal, with God given freedoms that are inviolate.

Today the world surrounding us seems to be descending into chaos. Though violence, terror and disease are sweeping vast areas of the globe, at least here at home we remain confident that we are safe, free and secure, our rights enshrined in a Constitution based on individual liberty, secured by a military second to none. Here in the United States, the rule of law is sacred, government powers are limited and our leaders should serve the people, not the other way around.

During this holiday season, we should remember the blessings bestowed upon us as by our Creator as free human beings. Whatever our beliefs,  we should be thankful for our families, our homes, our  liberties and those willing to put their lives on the line  to protect all of us.

Wildfire Risk In San Diego Valleys, Mountains Beginning Sunday

Friday, November 14, 2014

By City News Service

An onset of windy, dry atmospheric conditions will create acute wildfire risks in the San Diego-area inland valleys and mountains over a roughly 24-hour span starting Sunday evening, the National Weather Service warned today.

During the “fire-weather watch” period, sustained northeast winds up to 30 mph and gusts reaching 65 mph will be likely, the NWS advised.

Adding to the burn hazards will be daytime relative humidities as low as 10 percent, according to the federal agency.

The winds are expected to diminish significantly Monday afternoon, preceding an increase of local humidity levels that night, meteorologists said.
