About a month ago, my voice started vanishing.  Now the doctor says I am to not talk or even whisper, at all, for a couple more weeks.  (That will be a miracle!)

Since I am not sick, I am still working even harder than ever keeping up with my Real Estate with my iPad speaking for me (thanks Mike Pique for showing how to set that up!), or practicing my cursive with a pen and pad of paper.

If you’d like to get in touch with me, you are welcome to call.  We listen to the message, then you’ll get a call back from a certain cowboy I live with.  He’ll will most likely suggest you email me or Facebook me, so he can get on with his ride and you can get your questions answered.

It’s been pretty fun showing property because I can click on notes in my iPad for that particular property and let Seri (or one of the other voices with delightful accents) do the talking!  The grandkids are lovin’ it too.

Hoping you’ll all be able to join in on the fun at the Apple Festival!  I’ll be there with a big smile, some wonderful apple goodies to share, and probably paper and pen that day.

The long-awaited second book of Elsie’s beautiful look on life and her love of Palomar Mountain, has arrived.

Many of you have read Barbara Anne Waite’s book of the first set of her grandmother’s journals and letters. Elsie’s Adventures of an Arizona School Teacher tells of this young girl teaching in a one room school in Arizona. When the first book arrived, I had to finish that same night before I could put it down.

Now, Don is reading aloud to me, Elsie’s Mountain.  Oh, so wonderful to hear of the early days on Palomar in Elsie’s own words.

“Remembering vividly as a girl in 1904, I recognized that Palomar belonged to me from the moment I reached the top and the wagon stopped on the crest.  I ran thru the woods to the edge and saw the worlds spread below in unutterable beauty. If it is commendable for a citizen to claim a city proudly as his own, is it too outrageous that one should with passionate devotion claim a mountain?”

It sure was fun to see this post on Facebook yesterday:

On September 30th, 2010 my lifestyle officially changed. I closed escrow on my Pauma Valley property. That property became a ranch, an avocado grove, and a proving ground for skills I would acquire. Now, five years later, September 30th, 2015 I closed escrow on a new ranch. A slice of heaven, called Palomar Mountain. 28 acres of “off the grid” living perched at 4600 feet of elevation this gem of a property sits among the clouds. There are views that will not quit, and the freshest air San Diego County has to offer. I feel privileged to officially call a piece of this magical place my own.

A warm welcome to our newest mountain neighbor, Bobby Graziano! When he isn’t working on his properties, he works in the aerospace field.  It will be fun to see what this rocket scientist creates with his new land.

  Thanks to Mike Pique for his Moon Rise over the Mountain, with Eclipse Underway. You can see the trees at the bottom of the photo.  Pretty special shot, Mike!  Mike was out with other locals at the lookout on East Grade Road.

It was fun last night as I was returning from a late property showing to see folks out in several places across the mountain, meeting up with neighbors with cameras to take a look at the moon. Oh, the beautiful moon!

Ready for Sunday Night’s Total Lunar Eclipse? Almost a mile nearer heaven, Palomar is a great place to watch the eclipse!

On the night of September 27–28, the full Moon will slide completely through Earth’s shadow for the last time until January 2018.

Curt Waite, Chairman of the Forest Fire Lookout  Association, San Diego Chapter, just reported their rainfall total at Boucher Lookout.

5.87 inches for this storm.

Apparently 3 inches was recorded at Doane Pond area.

We thought we were doing well getting 2.25 inches at our place on State Park Road.

So interesting to see the difference in the totals on this Mountain.

We’re enjoying every drop!
