Saturday Night Summer’s End Potluck
Everyone is invited to come on out, tomorrow night, Saturday night for some old fashioned fun on Palomar Mountain.
Bring a potluck dish to share, your family and friends, and head on over to the outside amphitheater at the Fire Department.
It is suggested to bring blankets to sit on, but if you’re old like me, there just may be an old folks section too, so you might want to bring folding chairs. You’ll want warm jackets, too, Fall is in the air!
John Lesac also announced an “Opportunity Raffle” with $2.00 tickets for some pretty cool stuff from the General Store, Lazy H, and a private 7 course dinner for two, served on the Mountain and more.
How special is that!?!!
Date: Saturday, Sept 5th
Time: 5pm – 8pm
Place: Dance Stage – next to the Fire Station

What the drought looks like at the Phelps’ Place
Thankful for the lovely rain today. Southern Cal could use a lot more. We’re experiencing the need to conserve in a very real way.
Yes, that is duct tape on the faucets. All of our faucets are taped. Our well went dry. We have a tiny bit left in our 5000 gal tank but needing to be very frugal. We taped the faucets because it is such a habit to turn the water on so often without thinking about it.
The well at our other place seems fine so we ‘float’ back and forth. We are camping out with handy wipes, makeup remover cloths, and bottled water and jugs that we refill for drinking and brushing teeth. We are patiently waiting for the county to approve the new well permit so we can get a new one drilled.
Meanwhile, this is just a little nudge and reminder to conserve, as every little drop counts!

Marie Waldron and Staff Visit Palomar
Our State Assembly Member Marie Waldron, and her District and Sacramento staff visited Palomar a August 6. When her Principle Field Representative, Tom Stinson called to arrange the visit, he asked what concerns we might have as a community. We talked all along the way to our different stops.
The first issue mentioned was the drought. With several dry wells up here now, it is so important to conserve. It was pretty easy to spot dead and dying trees, especially on the north side of Crestline where they are in the ‘shadow of the storms’ and typically get less rainfall.
We had a great ‘behind the scenes’ tour at the Observatory, thanks to Steven Flanders. (You can take a tour most Saturdays). We were all impressed with the computer room pictured above with Marie and Steven, where the astronomers view our starry sky.
