Deer and Turkeys and Wind, oh my!

Hurricane Kay is a storm out in the Pacific Ocean heading our way promising strong winds. It was still dark when the wind woke us up this morning. We ran outside, took down our flags, umbrellas, patio cushions, closed windows and picked apples. Yes, rather than blowing off the trees and bouncing around on the ground, we bagged them up for applesauce.

Wow, 109 miles per hour outside of Julian! NOAA weather reported 96 mph winds at Cuyamaca Peak about an hour away. Palomar reported only 59 mph. Hummm, that is what our thermometer shows, too, 59 degrees. Maybe we’ll stoke up that woodstove today!

NOAA is also hinting at the possibility of maybe 2 to 4 inches of rain in the mountains and deserts? Thank would be a wonderful blessing for the Hemet and Anza fire, now over 27,000 acres.

The deer and turkeys had a wonderful time down in our orchard for a few hours. Winds have picked up now and I’m thinking they are taking shelter elsewhere so they don’t blow away.

Here is a tip: No parking under trees! No more car pancakes on Palomar, please!

Bonnie Phelps, having fun with Real Estate while on Storm Watch, hoping you are too!
