Editor’s Note: We don’t have private property available for hunting that I know of. Some hunters have been to this property a couple times, with no fresh signs of pigs. They are MOVERS! It is suggested to try the National Forest Land on the East Grade or www.mycountryclub.com Hope you are successful!
Pigs are a real problem on Palomar. Thanks to the East Grade property owner for taking these great pix. Stay tuned for how fast these 18 destructive pigs can multiply! Stats coming soon!

Thought I’d share a few pictures I snapped on my phone last week when I was up at our cabin. I happened to be in the back bedroom when the wild pigs came tromping by and had a great view of them from the window. There were 18 in total with about 5 babies I think. They moved fairly quickly through the area, but did stop to eat acorns and roll around in the dirt a bit. As usual, they left a bit of a path of destruction.
Don’t know how often they’re sighted, but thought not many get pictures like these! Lauren

Think the Forestry had a round-up. Haven’t heard anyone complain about pigs lately. You might call the Forest Service to see where they might need some good hunters: 760 782-3472

Hi all, I have two 2011 pig tags that I would love to fill this coming weekend. If you allow me and a friend of mine to hunt we will be more than glad to share the meat with you for permission to hunt out there on your land. Please reply to onemech76@yahoo.com or text me at (619)717-7699. We are also looking for deer again we can share the meat with you. If you are serious please put Piggly Wiggly on your reply so I know you are serious. I just don’t want a bunch of spam type stuff you know. I am stationed out in San Diego so we are local.

I’m also a bow hunter, I have been hunting the local mountains since I was 7 years old with my father (now 32yrs old) and I am available to assist with hog removal if you so desire. I will only take what I can eat and if needed I will take more and donate it to father Joe’s kitchen to feed the homeless in downtown.
Thanks.

Hi Bonnie,
I hope all is well. Perhaps you remember me from when we worked together at REMAX United. I was the computer tech that used to help you out when you would go to the Escondido office. I know it has been about 5 years since we talked when I left REMAX so I hope all is going well with you. My brother and I are hunters and if you or any other property owners are having pig destruction problems I would be more than delighted at the chance to go up there and bring home the bacon. I know you are a close knit community and don’t want random strangers hunting up there for obvious reasons. My Brother is a fireman andI am still in the Computer Networking field here in San Diego, both of us are family men. My brother and I are very safe and respectful hunters and the kind of guys you would want. Keep us in mind as those pigs start to grow in numbers and destroy more things.
Sincerely,
Ephraim

My wild life biologist friend says that now that they are established they are next to impossible to eradicate. Chasing livestock, being near housing, being unafraid of humans is unacceptable. The only solution now is hunting pressure. Shoot a few and the rest will move on and/or go nocternal. They typically move around a lot so they are difficult to track down. But this is what we love to do!

I am sure you will be inundated with requests, but I too would not mind taking a whack at these guys. Would any landowner on here be willing to allow access to a couple of responsible, respectful hunters?
Thanks

We have had some pig problems recently. They tear everything up. They are not afraid of humans and actually tried to go after herd. So far we have taken down 2 sets of pigs. The ribs were so delicious. But could live without seeing them. The government and environmental folks state they are not part of the animals that should be here. Originally from Russia and fast on their feet. Beware and either contact the feds or a pig hunter. Thanks for the comment. It is good that everyone knows now.
