Dear Bonnie,
I don’t know if you remember us, Rick and Renee who rented Mary and Al’s house with the little springer puppy a month or so ago. I used to ride the mountain in the 60’s with the Palomar Junior Riders. I had the cane (still waiting for hip surgery) I found in the Vista Press Archives some information regarding the ride and will forward it to you if you are still interested. Our oldest rider was Ma Brown and Tom and Pat Ramos of Vista were my trainers and quides on many of the rides. I am heading in for surgery hopefully in the next few weeks but you might google these names (robin Applegate) she used to ride these rides and appears to still be a member of the club. They will give you some fun into to the history of the ride. The ride dates were usually between June 20 – 27 I rode in the late 60’s. There are some photos of chuck wagon and bar-b-que and mention of the ranchs where we stayed. I am still looking for the bar-b-que site….hope all is well with you! We had the joy of seeing a “kitty” in the hollow tree right in front of the property while we were hot tubbing…he or she was quite impressive…about midnight. They have a 200 mile range usually so we considered ourselves quite blessed to have seen him. Kept puppy close to our side after that though. As soon as I am through surgery I plan to come back up, might try to get a one nighter in during the next month just to relax before treatment. Hope to see you…love the news letter, makes me feel like I home again in my beloved mountains.

Hello Renee,
How are you feeling these days? I would LOVE info about the Vista Palomar Ride. Also would love for you to come up for some R&R in our guest house – on us.
My dad rode a few years on the ride and Mom would bring my borther and me up on Sunday for the little church service dad would have.
Looking forward to seeing you again.
