Watch where you’re walkin’!

Several weed-eater guys have reported coming across “HUGE” rattlesnakes this week on Palomar Mountain.  Some people have found that using ski poles as walking sticks works well.

Have pets?  See note below from an animal hospital too.

<<So Rattlesnake season is officially here! If hiking or walking near brush, you should bring a walking stick with you. If you notice that your pet has been bitten by a rattlesnake, try to identify where the pet was bitten, as well as what the snake looked like (size, color pattern). The faster the bite is recognized, the more effective the treatment is. DO NOT try to cut the bite wound open or suck out the poison. Seek veterinary attention immediately for proper treatment! 8 or 16 or 49 Acres of Elsie’s Mountain For Sale

Three of the newest listings available on Palomar, are part of the property that Elsie Roberts first fell in love with in 1904:

“Remembering vividly as a girl in 1904, I recognized that Palomar belonged to me immediately as I reached the top, and the wagon stopped on the crest. I ran through the woods to the edge and saw the worlds spread below in unutterable beauty.  If it is commendable for a citizen to claim a city proudly as his own, is it too outrageous with passionate devotion should one claim a mountain?”

From the Journals of Elsie Roberts, shared by granddaughter, Barbara Anne Waite (Elsie’s first Journal is a MUST READ.  It tells of her time as a school teacher in Arizona 100 years ago and meeting the man who became her husband, loving Palomar too.   Elsie’s Palomar Journal is coming soon!)

In the early days on Palomar, this very beautiful land was a haven of rest for weary travelers.  Elsie’s family managed “Planwydd Hotel” and had an apple business.  Oh,  the great fun they had, and if these trees could talk, what stories they could tell!  The hotel is gone but the beauty of the property remains.  The apples are as delicious as ever and their apple truck found a nice resting place, as  nostalgic ‘lawn art’.  Elsie left behind a journal telling of their adventures and even her recipe for Squirrel Stew that is soon to be published.

Presently, the property owner has  a caretaker’s trailer on one of the parcels, with power, phone, and an excellent commercial well.  I have a feeling that this land will someday have a wonderful cabin and be a much-enjoyed getaway.  Like more land?  The 8 acre Orchard with Ocean views that was Elsie’s “Inspiration Point” is next door, could be yours too for a total of 16 acres.

Or, there is 49 acres with absolutely fabulous, off-mountain views of “unutterable beauty”.  Will your family be the ones to make memories to treasure at Planwydd Acres?

There are lots of photos waiting for you at http://www.palomarproperties.com/lotsandland

Here is a tip!  Up until a couple of hours ago, there were five new parcels for sale!  Opened escrow today on two of them, so these are the only three left.  Call quick for your tour.  Bonnie 760 742-1742

49 Acres of Adventure and VIEWS

Ok, are you one of those people who can see the potential in a property?  We have some loggers finishing up on this land and it really isn’t ready to show.   But oh my, what a view!   So, if you can look beyond our little firewood mess on the building area and the logging equipment, I’m glad to slip you in.     You see more info and lots of photos at:  http://www.palomarproperties.com/lotsandland/index.html

I plan to be on the Mountain the next couple days so am glad to give you a tour.

Thank you!  Bonnie 760 742-1742
