Live or enjoy Palomar? Keep reading…

From: Michael J. Walsh [mailto:mwalsh@pacbell.net]

Saturday morning, everyone is invited to the PMPO, Palomar Mountain Planning organization’s Annual General Meeting. It is to be held starting at 11am (following the Pancake breakfast). Click for the Agenda: “PMPO Annual General Meeting 052513

One of the critical topics for the community to fully understand, and provide feedback and opinion on, is the PMVFD report which will be provided by Fire Chief George Lucia. George and his team are planning a presentation to update the community on the ongoing discussions and contract negotiations with San Diego County and CalFire. We are at a critical juncture in those discussions, with regards to the future management and control of the PMVFD, and it is important for the community to understand the options and the ramifications with respect to the contract proposed by the County for fire service on Palomar Mountain.

Therefore we need to have as many members of the community there as possible, so that the PMVFD can communicate the situation and the options, and the community can respond. As well, the PMPO is interested in the community’s position on this matter. The decision with respect to the contract ultimately resides with the PMVFD Board of Directors, and my understanding is that they plan to be in attendance to gather feedback.

All the best,

Michael Walsh

Amgen Race on Palomar Mountain 2013!

001004005
It was a beautiful day to ride the Mountain for the 2013 Amgen Tour de California. Click for the King of the Mountain photos here at the top on Palomar.
The beautiful flag of our Country welcomed bicyclists to the top of Palomar Mountain the day before for the Pre-Race! I was out and about showing property several times and it was fun to see some of the cyclists. It was great to see a friend from the past, Scott Last celebrating his 61st Birthday, and his son-in-law Zack. What a great way to celebrate by riding up Palomar!
Concerned about the Mountain being crowded tomorrow? I’m thinking everyone could have a front row seat up here. Four years ago at this time, the night before, there were already a lot of folks along the road to get a good spot. We drove down the East Grade tonight and didn’t see anyone at all.
So, come on up and see the racers from around the world! Mother’s Kitchen has a lot planned to make sure you don’t go hungry! There are several parking options, and beautiful sunny sky with Palomar in full bloom.
Where ever you are tomorrow, have a wonderful day celebrating Moms!
