Cecelia’s Farm makes your heart feel good!

Cecilia's Farm Palomar Mountain   Cecelia Borland's Farm Palomar Mountain   Cecelia's Farm Palomar Mountain

Looking for a fun field trip?  What a delight to visit Cecelia at her farm.

Usually there are baby goats to play with, eggs to gather, sheep to snuggle, yarn to spin in the loom room and seasonal fruit or vegetables to harvest.  You might even be there for a birth of baby goats or sheep in the spring or summer.  Sheering happens in April or May.  It is extra special to plan your visit during feeding and milking time.

It is a working farm so you are invited to pitch in and help clean pens, which is always much appreciated.  Would you like to learn to make cheese?  You’ll love seeing Cecelia’s stone cheese cave and cheese making happens almost daily.  You can buy fresh eggs and take home lots of laughter, and memories to treasure.

If you are out in the Birch Hill or Conifer Road area, it is a fun hike to this “Walkable Adventure”.  They do have very protective livestock guardian dogs so other dogs need to stay home.

Donation$ are appreciated toward the continuous “Feed Bill”.   Thank you so much!

Call or text first please.  Cecelia 760-594-4688

Palomar to be welcomed into Old-Growth Forest Network – today!

Very last minute – You are invited to come by our place for coffee and goodies and meet the folks that put this together.  Come on over!

Bonnie

Dear Forest Lovers,

The lack of snow on Palomar Mountain means that we can go ahead with the planned dedication celebration at 1pm today (Sunday). Palomar Mountain State Park is being welcomed into the Old-Growth Forest Network. This Network selects one protected, open to the public, exemplary forest in each county of the nation (where forests can grow) and helps people connect with these special places (see www.oldgrowthforest.net). For San Diego County, California, Palomar Mountain State Park has been selected. A small group of people will gather today at the Silvercrest Picnic Area for a brief celebration of this dedication. All interested persons are welcome to attend.

Bonnie Phelps has graciously opened her home on State Park Rd, to warm up after.

A map of the picnic area location can be found at this link:

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Twig Coat/Hat Racks for Palomar?

twig hat rack

Walking in the San Marcos Costco this morning, I had to take a photo of one of the coolest coat racks for Palomar!  They are cast iron and seem very sturdy.  There were only a dozen or so right by the front door.  (I wanted them all!!!)  They just seem so perfect for our Mountain with heavy coats, scarves and occasionally a cowboy hat on top!  I’ll be so curious to see if any show up in cabins!

(You’re welcome….)

Lots of sleet, rain, wind, occasional white stuff.  Not what was promised but we’ll see how tonight plays out!

Is there a Cabin in your Stocking?

020 (2)

We have everything in place for some pretty quick escrows if you would like to have a cabin in your stocking for Christmas!

This Fun Fixer in the Forest just went on a Christmas Sale!   The brand new 200 amp meter has the power on.  We are in line for some tree work that will be done soon to open up the sun and make things easier for a wrap-around deck and a circular driveway.  Maybe even room for a garage/workshop!  What would your plans be to finish it out?  Big wood stove in the family room area?  That would sure be welcomed now with SNOW on the way  – Hooray!

This time of year, you may hear me singing “…its lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you…”  as I sure love sharing this mountain when we are having a Winter Wonderland.  You’ll need to settle for my 4 wheel drive, but grab those mitten’s and let’s go!

New Neighbors – Jim and Teresa McCarthy

Jim and Teresa McCarthy Palomar Mountain

With six kids and twenty grandkids, Jim and Teresa just had to have a cabin.  This was only about half their family celebrating Thanksgiving at the cabin this year.  They love nature and want those grandkids out there climbing trees, seeing the wildlife, and experiencing all the Four Season fun that Palomar has to offer.  Jim is having a great time with his new telescope and they are both ‘birders’ so have lots to watch from their deck.  Jim is one of those guys that can do anything as a General Manager of a Plumbing Company.  Teresa has lots of projects planned to keep him busy at the cabin.  She is a Bakery Field Manager for Vons.   She is looking forward to lots of baking at the cabin, meeting the neighbors, and attending the mountain happenings.  One thing for sure, and speaking from experience, it can be a very yummy stop to pop in for a visit!

Coffee Anyone? Chef Glenn, Palomar Roaster!

Glenn Secola Palomar Roaster Coffee  Palomar Roaster Organic Coffee

One of our mountain neighbor’s, Glenn Secola is our Palomar Roaster and a master story-teller!  Chef Glenn sells organic coffee at Farmer’s Markets. Buying coffee beans from around the world, he custom roasts the beans. His coffee is available as beans or ground, and come in two different sizes. Stock up for gifts! The Observatory features his “Star Chaser” blend that the astronomers appreciate on their long nights.

For those of you in the Crestline or Birch Hill area, this is a “Walkable Adventure” of fun on the mountain!  For those of you a little further away, it is such a wonderfully bright spot in your day to call Glenn to make sure he is there, and head over for his great coffee.

Call 76O 742-0411 and you are in for another delightful time on the Mountain.

Palomar Mountain Ranch For Sale next to the State Park

palomar mountain ranch for sale   palomar mountain ranch log cabin for sale   palomar mountain caboose for sale   palomar mountain ranch 7 car garage for sale

A couple years ago the ‘Treasures’ were up (oh, you know – our grandkids).  We took them over to the Palomar Mountain Ranch.  When our then 4 year old granddaughter climbed up the steps of the caboose, she turned around and said: “May I have your ticket please?”

A ticket is waiting for your tour, as Palomar Mountain Ranch is indeed a treasure.  Twenty one pristine acres with a charming log cabin, and an adorable caboose for guests.  Plus insulated and finished 7 car garages, and a basement workshop.  Oh, and the like new tractor, gator and Polaris, too!  All this in a heritage apple orchard, framed with meadows and a forest bordering the 2000 acre State Park!  Pretty special indeed.

Would an additional home with an underground guest apartment make a nice package?  Palomar Vista shares a property line.  That could be lovely, too!  Ah, endless possibilities!

When is a good time to bundle up and come up?  Glad to open those doors!
