Deer Highway now $169,200

land for sale palomar mountain

Can you believe this could be your view, right here in Southern California?  Looks more like Colorado or Montana!

When I met with the owner on the property a few weeks ago I asked him what attracted him to this land when he purchased.  He said, “It is the most beautiful property in the subdivision”.  The building site could be spectacular looking out through majestic oaks to the open, forest view with no other homes in sight. Beautiful boulders, too.  Lots of character.

The owner plans have changed now, so we ordered a net sheet from escrow and the owner is willing to sell at a break even price.   I’m showing this afternoon, and another Realtor was there over the weekend.  Who will be the next owner of Deer Highway?

Click and scroll for the MLS info including lots of photos, maps and the well report.

Then, let’s check it out!

Would you please distribute the below information I’ve received from the Forest Service.  They will be starting inspections this week in the Crestline and Birch Hill area before moving to other areas on the mountain.

Thanks,

Palomar Mountain Fire Hazard Inspections

Starting this Wednesday June 18, 2014 the U. S. Forest Service and CAL FIRE will begin performing Fire Hazard Inspections on Palomar Mountain.  The intent of these inspections is to assist you in properly preparing your home and or property to help protect it in the event that wildfires threaten your community.  The inspection also will be used to ensure that all home and property owners comply with the following codes/regulations (68.404(a) SDCCRO), (68.404(b) SDCCRO), (68.404(c) SDCCRO), (4907.3.1CFC), (4291(a)(6)Public Resources Code), (503.2.1 CFC), (3807.3CFC), and (505.1CFC).

Inspections will be made at random, and not all properties will be inspected.  Properties without structures, but having vegetation within 100’ of neighboring structures will need to remove or thin vegetation, or allow removal or thinning, to provide the designated clearance.  Owners may also request an inspection by contacting their Fire Prevention Officer:

If the property/structure is found to be in compliance, the inspection form will be signed off as compliant and a copy sent to the County of San Diego for their records.

If the property/structures does not comply, the homeowner will receive a list of the corrections necessary to comply with regulations and a copy will be sent to the County of San Diego’s Enforcement Division.

Once corrections are made, the homeowner may request a re-inspection of the property.  The re-inspection will be documented and a copy sent to the County of San Diego.

If you have any questions you may contact anyone of the three Patrols listed above.

Taste of Tuscany Home for Sale

palomar mountain home for sale  Don’t let the sun go down before scrolling through the photos of this beautiful home above the clouds.  It was for sale in the fall, then off the market as it was leased for a few months.  The owners are planning to move, so we were going to have it available to show in May, while they were in Italy for six weeks.  At the last minute, they decided that they were afraid I’d contact them with an offer and they just wanted to enjoy their vacation.  Imagine that!  Knowing it was coming back on the market, another agent showed it, and we have an offer in the works before I could even get it posted!

So, here you are, and just in case, we are taking back-ups for this amazing view home on the rim of the world.   Click for more info:  Life Above the Clouds and then call for your Tour.

Thank you!

Snow in June?!?

It’s true!  See note below from Gene Powers.  In ’98 I remember several weeks of sunny weather and then snow in June!  A friend living on a dirt road, off Bailey Meadow had taken her car down to the city to have it power-washed and detailed.  Came back that day to snow!

Thanks to Gene Powers for the little throw-back.  Gene moved to Iowa a few years ago, and we now have Jim and Teresa McCarthy in his A-frame by the Lodge.  Let it snow!

Do you remember what happened on this day in 1999 on Palomar Mountain???

There was a 3 inch snowfall. Took about 2 days for it to melt after the storm moved away. That was he 2nd time it snowed in June the 30 yrs I lived there. One day in mid-June in the early 1980’s, I went to work early in the morn & there was a lite dusting of snow on my car. Nothing stuck to the ground or the road. Too warm. I was retired in 1999 so didn’t hafta try to drive on the snow covered road.

Flea Tip

Just a friendly reminder:  We mountain folk love our squirrelanators!  I always use caution when removing the ones who have failed their swimming test from the trap.  Today though, I had a flea jump off of one onto my arm.  It was smaller and lighter color than the common dog flea and obviously swam better then the squirrel did.  So be aware, it can happen.
