Did you see the Weather Report?

100 snow

Sunny and clear up here – didn’t even wear a jacket to lunch at Mother’s. But, ohmygoodness!  100% chance of SNOW tonight???   Just thought some of you might like to see my favorite logo on the weather report!

We’ll believe it when we see it. But, meanwhile, I’m dreaming of a White Christmas!

28 Degrees at Couple Berry Farms

butch

28 degrees in Vista and on Palomar!

Driving up the mountain last night, Don made the comment that it was 28 degrees when we left yesterday morning at 10:30 and 28 when we got back up at 5:30.

Butch and Denise Johnson sold their home on Palomar a few years ago.  They decided to move back to their roots, at their family farm where Butch was raised.  When Butch went out to tend the crops this morning, he saw that it was the same temperature in Vista as I mentioned in a Facebook post last night. So, he sent me this photo.

Why did Burch and Denise move back to Vista?  Well, the grandkids live there on the farm, too!  When one of them reached up for Grandpa’s hand and said, “let’s take the tractor out an pick a couple berries, Grandpa”.   That did it.  They knew what to name the farm stand and knew they needed to be there for picking times with those grandkids.

Like some great organic produce grown with love?  It is worth it to go out of your way to Couple Berry Farms.

Click for a peek of their heart they’ve opened to all, where you can still get kisses for 5 cents.

What’s coming!?!

Those of us on the Mountain enjoyed another beautiful sunset tonight, looking out over a blanket of clouds.  The weatherman is promising rain, a tease of snow and wind over the weekend. Some of us are working hard to be patient for more of that white stuff, anxious to get out those sleds.

After this recent warmer weather, the windows are now all closed at my listings so we are ready for this welcomed storm.  Three appointments scheduled over the next few days and can fit in a couple more so, come on up!  Click to see what is available.  Plus a big, beautiful log home waiting in the wings!

Meanwhile there is a wonderful stew simmering (that Cowboy can cook)! Our son, Nathan, is on his way, and life is good – very good!  My voice is almost back to normal!  So much to be thankful for.

Hoping you are doing well and enjoy this storm!

Great Wall of Flame

wall of flame

Would you like to get a LOT more heat from your fireplace?  We were so impressed when visiting friends recently, sitting in front of their new vertical grate.

It is so much warmer with more of the flame and coals facing the room and the logs ‘self-feed’ into the fire.  So much more heat from the same amount of wood.  Click for the link.  Thinking we’ll be seeing some of these ’round the mountain!

This company also includes a video on how to build a fire.  However, there is a much easier way.  We use the Seymore Fire Blox you can get at The General Store.  No kindling, no paper.

With nice dry firewood (we prefer seasoned oak), use one fire starter, one match and you are all set for a warm fire…. and maybe s’mores!
