How much rain and snow on Palomar?

Well, it depends on where you are. Over here on the west side, our snow will be only a memory pretty quick. After our 26 years on the mountain, this is the first time we’ve seen such a difference in the amount of snow on the ground as we drive across the top. Weather stations up here vary also as friends at the Observatory measured six inches of rain just the first night of this storm and that report shows less for the entire several days. Our neighbor, Jim Hamerly has a gauge that already has us up to 19 inches of rain since January 1st.

We appreciate every drop… and some of us love every flake of that white stuff more than others!

Bonnie Phelps, ok, I’m guilty of doing snow dances!
