Good weather expected for Eclipse

Viewing conditions are likely to be good across most of San Diego County late Monday night when the moon begins slips into Earth’s shadow during a lunar eclipse that will be visible throughout North America.

The National Weather Service says offshore winds will keep most clouds away from the coast on Monday, although there could be patches of marine layer in some spots.

The moon will start to enter Earth’s shadow at 9:55 p.m. on Monday and will be in full eclipse at 12:08 a.m. on Tuesday. The maximum eclipse will occur at 12:46 a.m., and the total eclipse will end at 1:23 a.m. The moon will pass out of Earth’s shadow at 3:36 a.m. This is the first of four eclipses that will be visible from San Diego County over the next two years.
