SOS CAMPAIGN UPDATES
I’M DEFENDING STATE PARKS BECAUSE…: At Park Advocacy Day on March 20, participants will be delivering photos and messages from park supporters who are unable to attend the event. If you haven’t already, we encourage you to participate and share why it is important to defend our state parks.
Please participate in our online campaign and share the link to your networks via email and social media. Link: http://www.calparks.org/takeaction/pad/2012/
CALIFORNIA REPORT: The California Report has launched a series of stories about park closures. This radio program provides daily coverage of issues, trends, and public policy decisions affecting California and is carried by more than 30 public radio stations. You can access the audio archives online at http://www.californiareport.org/specialcoverage/ontherocks/
LAO REPORT: Last week the bi-partisan Legislative Analyst’s Office (LAO) released a new report, The 2012–13 Budget: Strategies to Maintain California’s Park System. In the report, the LAO provides a series of recommendations to the Legislature about funding for state parks. CSPF believes some of the ideas may have merit, but need additional context and analysis before the Legislature should adopt them. We are currently addressing them in our lobbying and testimony before budget committees. You can read the entire report online at http://www.lao.ca.gov/analysis/2012/resources/state-parks-030212.aspx .
ENDORSE THE SOS CAMPAIGN: Please make sure your group has officially endorsed the campaign- If your group still needs to endorse, you can do so online! Endorsers of the Save Our State Parks Campaign support our statewide, grassroots effort to keep California’s magnificent state parks open.
Thank you to the Borrego Springs Chamber of Commerce, Pasadena Audubon Society and the San Pasqual Battlefield Volunteer Association for recently endorsing the SOS Campaign! A full list of SOS Campaign Endorsers can be viewed online at http://www.savestateparks.org/aboutus.html .
