Over the next few weeks, those folks fortunate enough to be on Palomar Mountain will be treated to the vibrant colors and we enjoy this time of year. Thanks to Kathy Derengowski who penned this poem about Autumn on the Mountain:
Autumn on the Mountain
The leaves are falling fast and thick
On Palomar today
The squirrels are using every trick
To hide acorns away.
The days are warm and yet foretell
A colder time ahead
Our wood piles grow, our cabins swell
With quilts upon our bed.
Into the orchards we parade
To pick the ripest crops
For pie and cider must be made
(And “a la mode” is tops!)
Our flannel nightgowns re-appear
Our shearling slippers, too
The days grow chill, the nights are clear
Fall writes her poem, for you.
