Here is a lovely poem for you about the pleasures of being on Palomar in the Summer. The author Cathy is a part-timer on the Mountain with her husband and has a Fall poem headed our way too! She said she is, “3/4 through my year of a poem-a-day! Next year I am going back to my usual New Year’s Resolution to lose ten pounds”. Thanks Kathy! Enjoy!
Palomar Summer
On Palomar the summer day
Is splashed with gold and green
The sky above is azure
The air is crisp and clean.
The bees are making honey
The squirrels and chipmunks play
Wildflowers scent the gentle breeze
Which cools the hottest day.
We gather at the general store
Or plan to take a hike
We bring a picnic to the park
There’s plenty here to like.
Still later, when the sun goes down
We sit outside and gaze
While countless stars and constant moon
Keep their appointed ways.
You may come for our bar-b-que
Or just to get away
You only plan a visit…
I predict you’ll want to stay!
