Subject: PMVFD BBQ Meeting Notes from last meeting/NEXT BBQ PLANNING MEETING IS SUNDAY JUNE 12 AT NOON/VOLUNTEERS ROCKIN THE MTN!

Hello to All

The 5/22 BBQ Planning Meeting went really well.  New people show up at each meeting and it’s great getting to know each other.

Cecelia confirmed more than 10 booth entries and at lease another 5 are pending confirmation.  Greg Van Idsinga is working on booth placement to make sure we have enough space for all of them.

Rick Clemson,Photographer, was contacted by Mary Burdick and invited to attend.  Rick agreed to be a roving photographer during the event and will put the photos on a disc for us.  The photos could be posted on our website and attendees will hopefully be able to go on line and order pictures for a Pay Pal donation.

Tom Fortney and Jerry Johnson gave us a status on efforts to obtain a beer donation.  Firehouse Brew can no longer donate.  They will pursue other possibilities and will follow up with Stone and Karl Strauss leads.

They will donate all the soft drinks as they have done for the last several years.  They recommended that we get the Icee machine again as it was very popular last year.

Mary Burdick has been sending out letters to her contacts to get more volunteers and will be sending letters to advertise the event to all local newspapers and local radio.

Tracey Chesney gave everyone a copy of the 2011 menu – the main dish will be pulled pork sandwiches which were a great success last year, and hot dogs, also a hit.  New this year is a veggie burger choice.  Kimba volunteered to grill the hot dogs.  Tracey also gave us a time line for food prep and serving and a list of needs.    We are short on food servers.  We need to have enough servers that they can break each other.  Kym plans to have uniformed firefighters assist with food serving as an opportunity to meet the public.

We definitely need more servers,  so if you know some able bodied folks that would like to help out…bring ’em on!

Susie (me) showed samples of possible T-shirt designs for this year to sell at the fire department booth.

Meeting broke up at 1:30.  Some of us walked down to the old stage to see what needs to be done.  It needs a LOT of work, but has great potential.  Kym is arranging for some heavy equipment to do a little clean-up and grading, then the stage is going to need a few boards replaced and a fresh coat of paint.  Work party time!

Remember – our goals for this event are to HAVE FUN, SERVE THE COMMUNITY,

AND BENEFIT THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. We are Palomar Mountain Volunteers Rockin’ the Mountain!

See you all at the next planning meeting, Sunday, June 12, at NOON at the Community Center.
