Many thanks to former cabin owner, Peter Brueggeman for the endless hours he has spent sourcing out and organizing wonderful historical information on Palomar. The book that Robert Asher wrote is available at the Palomar Mountain General Store. THANKS Peter!
Heads up to fellow Palomar Mtn history enthusiasts.
I spent the afternoon with a descendent of the sister of Robert Asher, author of the historical book, My Palomar. I was located by that person through the Robert Asher materials on my website.
Robert Asher left Palomar to live out his remaining years with his sister in El Cajon area.
This is a photo of where Asher pitched his tent on her land, with the modest ‘house’ Asher then built on her land in which to live out his years.
I also received some of his Asher’s diaries from his Palomar Mtn years, many Asher photos and postcards, and I shot photos of Asher paintings of Palomar Mtn landscapes.
Good stuff!

Robert Asher’s “My Palomar” is an incredibly nice book. I bought it a few months ago at the Palomar Mtn. General Store and have been reading about a page at a time over lunch when there aren’t other pressing matters. Only a few pages are still unread. Can’t wait to finish. Friends are waiting in line to get their hands on the book!
Peter Brueggeman did an outstanding job compiling the information.
