Welcome New State Park Ranger!

A warm Mountain welcome to Jessica Murany, our new State Park Ranger!  She has been a Ranger with the State Park System for five years.  Starting out in a desert setting, she most recently worked San Diego Coast District with a lot of traffic, congestion and miles and miles of campgrounds.  Because of her desire to be in a mountain setting she put in for the position on Palomar and is real happy to be here.

Jessica is hard at work with a list of goals that will breathe new life into our favorite State Park.  She really has a heart for reintroducing the campfire talks and plans to make the schedule available to the Mountain residents and weekenders!  She’ll be soliciting help with documenting the history of the State Park and will be collecting photos and welcomes input from the mountain folks to have the history an accurate and complete record to carry on for future generations.  She is anxious to learn about who put in the orchards, who was Scott of Scott’s cabin, and be a part of the re-opening of Boucher Lookout.

Campfire talks sound so fun with her plans of monthly themes.  She will be looking for local volunteers that can share their stories and musical abilities with campers and with those of us who will look forward to this new event on Palomar!  We will enjoy all that Jessica’s leadership will bring to the Palomar Mountain State Park!
