Had a fun phone call a couple of months ago from Michael Rogers with the State Park down in Borrego. He explained that they had commissioned Ernie Cowan to take a panorama for an Interpretive Board outside Boucher Lookout. He asked me to call when it looked like it was going to be clear about 9 am or so for Ernie to come up for the photos. I can often see the Carlsbad power plant from my desk but was watching to see the islands out there too. Finally a few weeks ago when we had those strong winds, I gave Michael a call. Ernie and Katie came up on a perfect day. I followed them out to get pictures of the photographer to share with you about this nice addition heading our way. Katie called tonight and mentioned that they had come up for another photo shoot so I asked her to write-up a little about their project.

At the request of the State Park we have spent a couple of days at Boucher Lookout trying to capture one of those transparent days. The goal is to create a panoramic photograph that will be used for a display at the new overlook platform. The display will mark visual points of interest so visitors will be able to identify the things they can see from this breathtaking vantage point. While Ernie was involved in the technical concentration of capturing the multi-image panorama, Kati was wandering in the woods communing with nature capturing some of the early spring beauty.
