Remember what Star Trek’s Captain Kirk said?
Kirk: Take it the odds are against us in a situation this grim.
Pickard: You could say that.
Kirk: You know, if Spock were here, he’d say that I was an irrational, illogical human being by taking on a mission like that…Sounds like fun!

Could he have been referring to Boucher Hill Lookout????
Herrrrrrrrrrrre’s Captain Brad with a mission project for YOU:
From: Brad Ells
Subject: FFLA Red Alert!!! Boucher Hill Lookout needs you!
Hello Lookout Fans and Friends,
Now is the time for all good men and women to come to the aid of Boucher Hill Lookout! The structure has suffered severe storm damage in the past few weeks. The aluminum siding has blown off the south and west sides of the tower exposing the original wood siding; the 2nd and 3rd floor south wall windows have been torn out; The roof continues to leak due to the damage received from the 2007 Poomacha Fire.
After some intense negotiation that stretched from Sacramento to San Diego, FFLA has been granted access to perform emergency repair and protection of the lookout. Our goal is to simply protect the building from further damage. Cal Fire will soon begin a rehabilitation project this Spring.
We need your ideas and tools to help protect Boucher Hill. Our intent is to remove storm debris to a safe location, install 2 plywood shutters on the missing windows and use plastic sheeting and drain piping to direct water to drainage points inside the building. Power is available on site. I have copies of the original construction plans for reference.
We will meet at the Silvercrest Picnic Area just inside the park main entrance at 10 am Saturday, February 13th. A park brochure and map are located here:
Palomar Mountain State Park is located at the end of County Road S-7 (State Park Road), 2 miles west of the Palomar Summit junction…just follow the signs.
We will plan to work Saturday, Sunday and Monday if needed, meeting at 10 am each day. I apolgize for the short notice but the work is imperitive as the building is open to the weather. I received the final approval from the Cal Fire – San Diego Unit Chief today. We have a good weather window this weekend as well.
Just think…you can work all day Sunday on your lookout passion then take your sweetheart to a prime rib dinner at the Round Up BBQ at Lake Henshaw!
Here is the fine print…and you knew it was coming…
We do not have cooperative or volunteer agreements with Cal Fire or California State Parks at this time. The liability for working on this 62 year old damaged structure is your own. You will be required to sign a Release of Liability for Cal Fire and FFLA.
We are pursuing a Cooperating Association Agreement with California State Parks to operate Boucher Hill Lookout for a visitor interpretation and fire detection mission.
You work at your own risk so be prepared…bring your own PPE (Personal Protective Equipment); gloves, hard hat, eye protection, resperator, etc. The building is a known to contain hazardous materials; lead paint, asbestos tiles, mold and mildew.

Could he have been referring to Boucher Hill? Not likely but perhaps!
Please Reply by Email or phone if you can participate Saturday or Sunday or both. We will play Monday by ear…
FFLA…Stand by for Warp Speed!!!
