Chains are required and apparently tow trucks will be working the mountain this weekend ticketing and towing vehicles parked in the road, double parked, or parked on private property.
You are welcome at the Summit where there is our General Store and Mother’s Kitchen Restaurant but very limited parking on snow days.
The Observatory is closed this weekend and Canfield Road, the road to the Observatory is closed, so Residents Only may drive past the Summit. The two housing areas, Bailey and Crestline Road, are also closed to Residents Only. So that leaves very little parking options on Palomar without a risk of being towed.
The group campground at the top of the Mountain is open but actually a pretty small area surrounded by private property. Please respect the private property signs posted throughout the mountain. The State Park is closed except for the Silvercrest picnic area to the left just past the entrance.
Julian has a lot more options for parking, going inside a business to get warm and having a bite to eat after snow fun. Palomar is a small community also lacking public restrooms or trash cans. If you do come, it is very much appreciated that you take your trash back with you to keep the mountain scenery beautiful for the next folks to enjoy.
Please respect private property and treat the property as you would want the Mountain folks to treat yours. Your consideration is sincerely appreciated by the folks who call Palomar Mountain their home.
